From AM news -
Hot on the Heals of the Scoop news that Tekwiz told us members who were at the Surrey Vette meeting this week-

Corvette/Cadillac is about to open two new sites in England. One will replace Stratstone Reading which recently closed. The other will be a new location at Southampton.

Reading was the second Stratstone Cadillac dealership to close. Its Edinburgh site shut last year.

Cadillac director Jonathan Nash said Pendragon, Stratstone’s owner group, had decided it was not a successful operation. A new appointment in Reading is due to be announced in the next 10 days.

Cadillac is still in talks with a number of parties regarding replacement of the Edinburgh site, which is more likely to be in central or northern England.

Nash said Cadillac dealers need to sell between 50-60 new cars each a year to break even.
Last year, the brand sold 171 cars, an average of 21.2 cars for each of its six dealers.

Nash said Cadillac is always sold at multi-franchise sites because it is a niche brand which could not stand alone.

The brand is unlikely to become sustainable until it introduces diesel engines to the range, which is at least a year away, Nash said.

The introduction of the left-hand drive supersaloon CTS-V, priced £56,495, to the UK is a brand halo product rather than a sales pusher and is expected to sell in “very small numbers”, added Nash.

He said he was being conservative with plans, trying to allow dealers to get through difficult times and focus on orders rather than pushing sales.

Not to dumb this down but I did suggest that they would be Authorised Repairers not dealers. Anyhow, we hope they get together with CCH quickly and effectively and wish them the best of luck with it.

This is excellent news, particularly for those in the South as Whitequay will be have an identical facility in Southampton (as indicated above).

They are able to diagnose, repair and service both C5s and C6s.

Just booked my C6 in for its first service on Weds with Whitequay in Reading. I'll let you know they do. I asked about discounts for CCCUK members but they seemed a bit hazy and said they'd look into it (never hurts to ask!).

So, Jonathan Nash wears two hats then......hmmmm.....wonder how that situation will change with Saab getting a divorce from GM (if they don't disappear completely of course)?

Had my C6 serviced today by Whitequay Reading, and was very impressed. Customer service was excellent - they returned calls as promised, finished the job on time, etc. Had a chat with Ian Jones, After Sales Manager, while I was there and he seemed genuinely enthusiastic about handling Cadillacs and Vettes - he even had an old Corvette history book on his desk! They'd serviced a few Cadillacs already but mine was the first Vette. Ian also introduced me to Daniel, the technician who'll be handling Vettes and he seemed really enthusiastic as well. When I collected my car after the service, Ian asked if they could take a photo of my car in front of the dealership with the two of us shaking hands - again, shows that they're taking us seriously.

All in all, a very professional outfit who deserve to do well.

Hi Martin. I'm getting the wheel done in a couple of weeks time. Decided to stick with Wheel Wizard as they've got a lot of good reviews (although I'm still slightly bemused by the fact that they told other folk in the recent past that they couldn't do polished wheels...)
