American car Imports ZR-1 WTF!!!!!
Discussion
What the F*** are American car Imports on? They are selling a American spec ZR1 for £125k 19k more than Bauer Millett are selling a offical car with Warranty??? Why would you buy this car are some dealers thinking Corvette owners are just muppetts that will pay any price for a car?
I really think trying to ask more is madness unless anyone on here has bought this?

All credit to them Rob. Their car is three months ahead of our first one. Maybe £19,000 is less important than having the first. Only the GM press car has made it here so far.
I saw a German registered Euro spec yellow one at Zolder back in October, can't understand why GM haven't delivered to the UK yet?Le Man said:

Exactly... supply and demand. If the vehicle cant be supplied NOW at the cheaper cost.. then the option is the more expenive one.vetteheadracer said:

I don't see any point me re-iterating the difference between aftermarket and manufacturer warranties and customers will make up their own mind as to what is more important.
Sounds ok to me if americancar will underwrite the warranty with the seller in writing, sounds like a good deal.
(ie) In effect they back off the liability for repair in the first instance to the Warranty company, but assume total ultimate responsibility and are prepared to put that in writing, then I think thats a good deal. Especially if uncapped like he stated.

I'm not quite sure what the beef is here. There is an allocation for the U.K. which is more than half taken. The build slots are for around the end of April. In answer to your question then the answer is yes. If you want one for tomorrow then the answer is no, but then again I doubt you could either?
I would only ever buy a vehicle at that end of the price spectrum from either an authorised dealer, (appointed from the factory) or private/trader with the same warranty in place. £100k on a brand new car with no "direct" warranty cover would give me sleepless nights however much a grey importer guaranteed to prop up any short fall.
As for "AA" approved, wasn't that shower "Yes Car Credit" approved by the AA? At least they didn't have Corvette on their forecourt.

Mitch, the "beef" as you put it was in the original post - we CAN supply a car today, not an order/allocation/build slot for some dim and distant date, but TODAY! How many would you like TODAY?
I wasn't the original poster so there is little point in flaming me. If you physically have one in stock shouldn't you be asking why it's not already sold given how desirable these cars are? If you haven't got one in stock then you couldn't sell and deliver one to me today in which case your point is mute. At nearly £20k over list for a U.S. import with no Certificate of Conformity, hence no real hope of future sale to the continent, the depreciation on your car is going to be strong across its first 12 months. I've never checked the terms of aftermarket warranties with regards to carbon ceramic brakes but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a clause relating to them somewhere. As I said, if you've got the customers great, but I'm quite happy with my conscience. I didn't intend for this to turn into a 'slanging match', but as I said I think it helps to post with a slightly calmer head than you have been doing.I don't tend to post much on here these days, even though the banter is often great and there is loads of good stuff, but the bickering is tiresome (and before I get flamed, I am not referring to the valuable support and guidance offered by those in the trade who know far more about Corvettes than many of us - long may that continue and that they are willing to use their time to help others).
However, you can't blame Jon of ACI for responding. ACI have been around for a long time and if they are willing to underwrite the warranty, then that should satisfy many buyers, and they were entitled to clarify that point.
At times this forum does seem to be on a crusade against a certain dealer and now it's turned on ACI, but I can't see why??? They are in business to make a profit. If they can sell a car that people want and at a price that is acceptable to both parties, then what is wrong with that? I say "absolutley nothing"??

I agree that constant dealer bashing is dull and does nothing to help owners/prospective owners. For a few fleeting moments over the New Year period it looked as though it might have died out....
