When will GM realise that we the buyer WANT these cars not fkIN' HYBRIDS banghead perhaps if GM stopped listening to the media, focus groups and green lobby (who as we all know are beardy cycle riding liberals who let their children knife people....."they are just expressing themselves")

It was already confirmed in the other 2012 thread that the axing of that division did not affect Corvette, Camaro or the CTS-V, at least not the current versions.

The sooner GM bites the bullet and goes Chapter 11 and reboots minus the crazy union obligations the better, surely?
They can't continue as they are and the US taxpayers can't bail them out ad infinitum any more than UK taxpayers can continue bailing out our banks...

Slightly over simplifying the situation I think. GM is essentially asking for an upfront that is basically the money set aside by Congress for U.S. car manufacturers upon meeting their obligations as set out by CAFE. Therefore they are trying to make some big steps towards getting themselves there so that they can look responsible. Most likely a temporary move for a few years until GM finds its way or falls apart.

Either way I still agree with Mr. Yu.

I spoke to Vince Muniga a few days ago and it is only the "high performance" versions of more mainstream models that will disappear for the time being. That is HHR SS, Cobalt SS etc. Front wheel drive st that no one needed anyway.

Corvette, Camaro (including SS models), and CTSv are not affected, as they are built on regular production lines, not by GM HVPO, and are already signed off. Don't forget that we also have CTS Coupe coming soon, and GM Performance Parts can already supply a raft of COPO parts for the Camaro. The quality of genuine performance cars and the availability of tuning parts direct from the manufacturer has never been better.

To be honest, knowing that we have these quality tuner guys going over to the hybrid propulsion development units at least means that we have enthusiasts on the inside, meaning a little more hope of something interesting, instead of wasting their time bolting bodykits onto shopping cars. It is a temporary thing, if the market ever changes then HVPO will reform.
