I've just sold my Z06 to a German guy. The same guy bought four others from the UK too and he's hunting for more. I had none stop enquires from Europe, especially France and Germany, lots of them dealers looking for stock. I know of many other Z06's that have sold over the past few weeks due to our terrible £ against the €. I think we're losing all the Z06's from the UK, its very worrying?!

Guess who's to blame,

"Under this Government, Britain will not return to the boom and bust of the past."

"The longest period of sustained economic growth in the history of the United Kingdom"

"As I have said before Mr Deputy Speaker: No return to boom and bust."

"The Arctic monkeys really wake you up in the morning"

"I will not allow house prices to get out of control and put at risk the sustainability of the recovery."

"And we will never return to the old boom and bust."

It takes away a lot of the doubts about future values when the European mainland has such a strong market for used Corvettes.
Our Z06 is now significantly cheaper than the same car in Europe but this is temporary and stocks are dwindling.
The Germans are buying new ones too!

Its good news!

If I fall victim to this recession then once I've sold the house, the valuables and at least one of my Kidneys I will get a good price when I have to sell the vette! laugh

We live in a "European Union" therefore it actually would be illegal to impose such strictures.
Imagine living in Texas and not being allowed to sell a car in Florida,it's(almost)the same thing,we are merely a European member state now.
Unless I'm wrong...........

Yep, very irritating that all our Z06s are heading to Europe when you're looking to buy one later in the year. Great news for current owners who may want to sell though as Z06 prices have held up amazingly considering the economic climate.

Think about it:

2006 Corvette Z06: New 60k / Now 40k (33.3% depreciation)
2005 BMW M6: New 85k? / Now 30k (65% depreciation)
2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage: New 87k? / Now 40k (54% depreciation)

And to think there was a massive waiting list for the AMV8..

Surely the European Corvette dealers are clamouring for a price hike in the UK? How can they sell cars, when all their prospects are shopping over here? 88,000 quid for a new Z06 with extras in France!!

Europe is supposed to be one but it isn't, for example when I worked in Belgium I could work through my limited company as I do here.
The exchange rate fluctuations mean GM are between a rock and a hard place regarding pricing as in effect the UK pricing is now looking good vs US whereas Europe now looks very expensive.

Sorry to burst your bubble Nigel, we're not allowed to sell unregistered cars. That is classified as 'Illicit Wholesaling'. However a pre-registered car is not new.

During the period from 1999-2002 the only Corvettes really being sold here were coming from Germany. Swings and roundabouts!

Ah I see i was confused by Lemans use of the word "new". You register the car here therefore you are selling it including Vat etc and therefore any EEC citizen could walk in and buy the car and transfer the registration to their home country.

As the car is registered to us it is sold on a VAT invoice so that VAT can be claimed back if the purchaser wishes. As Euro spec. cars they have a Certificate of Conformity too which makes it much easier for the purposes of re-registration. We don't register them until they're paid for though! That's a schoolboy error!

Its not just Z06's lost to Europe its national viability, solvency, competancy etc, all being lost to Europe.
With parts of the UK 70% run by the state, we are already in a failed socialist state.

Time for the UK to lose its remaining best resources.. its poeple. Leave the failed mess to the communists who screwed it in the first place.

Patriotism is to believe in a free market and liberal land of freedom. Not a debauched vision of a land of rancid welfare beneficiaries, paid for by state owned banks, car assemblers and immigrant labour that slowly declines into an Orwellian molass of illness and decay.

All caused by retarded ignorant politicians who raped their taxpayer funded expenses while joyriding on Russian billionaires yachts, all the while failing to do their job of managing macro economic factors by dumming down regulators and encouraging the weak wreckless to buy their illusiary dreams off the back of foreign slave labour.

The Labour party has the land they wanted and fought for. A failed socialist state called Britian.

Wow ! Thats the first time I've read a (badly spelled) rant by a CAPITALIST that sounds like one shouted by a far left bigot.
This is a forum chiefly for Corvette enthusiasts, while I do agree in principal with a lot of what you said,it doesn't make pleasant reading and has no place here.
Ever thought about joining the BNP ? (I bet you have)

I'm glad I don't live near you. It sounds awful.
We have a swimming pool, Magners is £2.65 a pint, and all the Indian restaurants do free home deliveries.
We don't seem to have any Russians but the Poles will wash and leather all our windows for £4.00.
