September

5th - Corvette Cruise to Leeds Castle – in KENT (NOT LEEDS!!!) 5th September ‘09

Leeds Castle Maidstone Kent ME17 1PL Tel: 01622 765400

Yet another FANTASTIC Venue for our Corvettes to be dragged off driveways on a bright and sunny September Sunday.

Leeds Castle has got to be one of the most beautiful castles in Great Britain today. Not only is it huge in size but it is still in one piece – not all bits of rubble! Inside is even more breathtaking and should not be missed.

The reason for choosing Sunday the 5th is that on that day there is a large FOOD FESTIVAL which, if a couple of years ago is anything to go by, offered a superb opportunity to taste hundreds of samples of REAL FOOD (no Big Macs, sorry Dave & Rob) for FREE!!

It’s called the “Plant to Plate’ Food Festival” and is described as “a celebration of local produce, sustainability and traceability, and all the best of today’s farming in the heart of the garden of England. Advice and ideas from the experts to inspire along with tips on beating the credit crunch by growing your own! Sample the finest food and drink from local suppliers and further afield, including Leeds Castle’s own sparkling white wine”.

Another distinct advantage to this being on the same time as our visit is that they open up a massive area for parking in between the Castle and the “Foody” Marquees. Good eh?

The usual meet at the Fairmile should take just over an hour to get there and is under 60 miles. Suggest meeting at around 9:15, leaving 9:30. If you can give me an idea whether you may be interested or not I will find out bulk prices of tickets for us the visit the Castle and the Food Festival on mass. Every region welcome especially Surrey, Thames Valley and Kent of course!

6TH CAN AM NATIONALS, at St Leonards, nr Ringwood, Dorset.

13th Le Mans Series, Silverstone.

CLUB MEETINGS

South Coast Club Meet
The Canam club are organising a cruise every 4th Sunday of the month. The first of these cruises will be this Sunday 25-Jan. They are going to meet at the St Leonards Hotel where we have our CCCUK South Coast monthly meets. The suggested time is to arrive from 12:00, have a drink and/or food at the hotel, and then the cruise will start at 13:30. I have no idea where they plan to cruise to, but I would guess that it may finish up at the Sea-View view point in Upper Parkstone where the Canam boys and girls meet every Sunday from about 14:30.
If anyone fancies going, then there will probably be a good show of American cars, and hopefully a few Vettes.

Not sure at the moment, Martin. I'm a bit busy at the moment although a trip out in the old girl wouldn't go amiss. Will certainly give it a thought.
