Most fuel you've squeezed into your C6 tank?
Discussion
This is nothing to be proud of, but I filled-up tonight with 65.8 litres of Sainsbury's 95 RON. This is still 3 litres below the tank capacity, despite the fuel gauge needle being BELOW the red segment and the 'RANGE LOW' warning being on for 40 miles! My fuel consumption over the course of this last tank has been 29MPG actual. Pretty amazing. That's a mix of approx. 75% M-way and 25% urban driving.
Anyone been brave/stupid enough to get so low on fuel as to get near to the 68.8 litre capacity into the tank?

Are we using US or UK galls here in these MPG figures?
Just interested as I haven't had my C6 long enough to do a full tank with much motorway driving as yet. (Had it about 6 months - but hey - I live in Norfolk!)
In and out of town I normally average about 23mpg (19mpg-ish indicated)
UK gallons. I get about the same around town... anywhere from 18-23 MPG actual. Best I've had, on a long run down to Docklands and back, was 33MPG actual. All these figures are calculated based-on actual fuel used and cross-referenced against my DIC average fuel consumption, which I've found to be 0.5MPG pessimistic after applying a +20% correction factor to convert to UK gallons.Just interested as I haven't had my C6 long enough to do a full tank with much motorway driving as yet. Mine are calculated from distance and fuel fill rather than the DIC, so UK mpg. For reference, my DIC's about 5% optimistic (applying the 20%ish uplift to the DIC numbers to convert from US to UK mpg)Just interested as I haven't had my C6 long enough to do a full tank with much motorway driving as yet. Beat that suckers! But you'll have to run out of petrol first like I did...
Sorry its a bit like the farting game if you follow through you lose....same with petrol if you run out then you lose.......but at least it gives us something to aim at!With 68.97 litres into a Z06 tank.

One of the most embarrassing moments in my life was when I ran out of fuel in my old C5 on the way home from work one evening. I was in the outside lane of the M1 and couldn't understand why the car felt like it was hesitating... started thinking I had a miss on one or two cylinders. After about 0.5 miles, it got much worse and the engine just cut-out (at about 75mph). Then, it dawned on me... FUEL! Had to cut a couple of people up as I hurriedly got over onto the hard shoulder. I was VERY lucky that I came to a stop just a few yards before the J14 slip, so just had about a 25 minute walk to the nearest petrol station.
Did I feel a total t**t walking back in my suit, jerry can in hand, to my flash sports car to fill it up with petrol! Never ran-out of fuel since!

I bought a Mitsubishi Evo 7 up in Derby and drove it to work after collecting the car only to run out of fuel just as I left the M40 at Warwick about 4 miles from where I worked, I too had to walk about 20 minutes to buy a fuel can and petrol to get the car going again. To be fair the fuel gauge on the Evo was rubbish as it was still reading just below 1/4 full when it run out and I since discovered that it is a common fault with the cars. I usually get about 55 litres in my Z06 tank.
Did a very relaxed cruise up to Surrey last week in it using cruise control, 220 miles from Devon on half a tank, averaging 36mpg!!!
Thirty Six! My Mondeo Diesel Estate managed 49mpg on the same journey a few days earlier, not bad either, but only 13mpg more?
Corvette aerodynamics help methinks. 36mpg is not too shabby for a 7 litre, 11 second car really. Stunning, in fact.

Cruise was set to 70, but I can usually eke another couple of mpg if I control the throttle myself.
The cruise will always keep to the same speed, so up hills it adds fuel, whereas my natural tendancy with the dashboard readout on instant mpg is to keep my throttle foot still and lose a couple of mph, thus keeping the instant mpg steady.
And don't forget, the dashboard reads in US mpg! I measured the fuel from brim to brim at the pump, and calculated mpg back from the mileage covered.
Unfortunately, thanks to previously living in Central London my life to date average over 32,000 miles is still only about 17mpg (but it's going up!).

Been there, done that! Followed the stupid sat nav on a route to the Nurburgring that took me past precisely NO fuel stations. With 68.97 litres into a Z06 tank.

Ran out, called Corvette International Rescue, waited 2 hours, then the battery was dead from having the radio (but nothing else) on...
Fire it up, pull away and there was the very first fuel stop on my route, less than one mile away! Could have been on my way within half an hour if I'd known...
