They did a comparison of KTM X-Bow (which some will have seen at Le Mans) and Lotus 2-Eleven. Like the Ariel Atom I can't help feeling the pull of these "light 'n fast" cars but the lack of a windscreen makes them all too impractical for me. [They should have more sense following the failure of Renault Spider Sport up against the Elise - Renault fitted a windscreen eventually but it was too expensive and too late.]
Regrettably the wonderful but expensive X-Bow was squarely beaten by the much cheaper Lotus so that's another car off my list of possibles!
5th Gear - it ain't much but it's better than nothing....
Oh yes, they also did a test of Ferrari's ridiculously expensive Corvette-a-like. (California?). Makes a V8 Vantage look good value for those with a wedge.

Well I still occassionally touch base with Tom at the Ariel factory and I'm very pleased that Simon Saunders has followed the path that I suggested to him would always work for them. If I were I wouldn't change much, they've still got a 20 month waiting list. Why do you need a windscreen?? Try one and you'll realise that's the reason for having one.Regrettably the wonderful but expensive X-Bow was squarely beaten by the much cheaper Lotus so that's another car off my list of possibles!

I actually like the California, but the problem is people should fall in love/lust with a new Ferrari, not just "like" it...

Their options list also includes a V8 engine for those fully committed to the Highway To Hell. There might just be a surfeit of power over grip!My track experiences were developing nicely until I drove a Formula Ford 2000 on slick tyres and that just blew away anything I'd experienced in a car before (or since). So I'm more inclined towards sporty road cars than out-and-out trackday specials. Hence the big desirability of a windscreen!
That's a shame, Fifth Gear I thought was "getting into gear" but looks like they have slipped. As for Tiff and Jason I still take what they say about a cars handling a lot more seriously that the plonkers on Top Gear....
And thank God we don't have to put up with Vicky stuck up bxxtch Henderson with her inane laughter and quote: "gigglesome pace" comments (what ever that meant at the time).
