Why buy a new Covette
Discussion
Why would you buy a new Corvette irrespective of money, apart from having the latest model.
For me it is what model that turns you on, for me it is the the C5, as it is the ultimate irrespective of what GM produce.
What is the ultimate shape and when will GM if ever produce the ultimate shape.( I appreciate the financial restraints)
And do you think that they will hold their value,or can you think of another Supercar that will be anywhere near irrespective.
Because Ferraris are not close at all, what Supercar can you buy for that sort of money, where do you get that sort of performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a lot of questions
I bought a C6 because I wanted a Corvette that I could use as my only car (I bought a C5 in their day for the same reason). I bought a new one because fast cars don't tend to be bought by "one careful lady owner", so I prefer something with no history and a long warranty! I know it costs me a lot, but I plan on keeping the car for a long time so the hit gets spread out.
Ultimate shape is the C2, and I can't imagine that changing. If I could justify 2 cars, then I'd have a C2 as well as a C6. (If Santa's listening: a '67 convertible, light blue please). Early C3's are OK, and I still like the C5 (even though I hated it when it first came out).
In percentage terms, Vettes seem to depreciate about the same as mainstream cars...but what really matters is the absolute number. The way I look at it is that on a £50K car it's hard to lose more than £50K, and competitive cars are much more expensive!
As for other supercars, it'd be ruinously expensive to run one as a daily driver and you'd take a massive depreciation hit if you did. I don't want any of them enough to pay that much, whereas I do want a Vette enough to pay for the pleasure. In fact, I went off Ferraris the day I saw rust on a 400i at the first Goodwood Festival... Has to be plastic for me

What other Supercar can you run with service costs of around £200 a year!! The C5 was a great looking car but its now old and has been replaced, Things have moved on with Sat-Nav etc, The C2 was a great car but along came the C3 and made it old. The C2 will always look better I think the C5 looked better but is now an old car. The interior looks miles better in the C6.
