Corvette Race Series
Discussion
2009 sees the introduction of a new Corvette Race Series, full details at www.corvettemotorsport.com now where did I leave my cheque book.........
I heard about this some time ago but there are a number of issues. One is would anyone want to race on the boring North Loop circuit 10 times in one year?! Secondly, The image on the site shows Callaway's concept sketches for the GT3 Z06R's and given the cars they are talking about building are powered by LS3's I'd guess that they'll be based on the GT4 cars which aren't exactly the sexiest racing cars around. I'm all in favour of racing Corvettes but I'm not sure this series has a winning formula.....
Sorry, did you say "boring" North Loop?!
I've never heard any racing driver call the most notorious race track in the world that before! What would you consider "exciting" then?
Admittedly 10 times at the same venue would get a bit repetitious, but if there is one circuit that could keep it challenging, it is the Nordschleife...
And once you are into one-make championships, I don't think the spec of the car is what will make the racing interesting either; all the teams will have the same base car so it will be close, exciting racing. Everything F1 for example (last Sunday excepted) isn't.

Apologies, I really meant the boring Grand Prix circuit. It's certainly not a classic. As for the series, repeated visits to one track are pointless, you will always have certains drivers dominant at particular circuits so you'll most likely just end up with the same people at the front of every race. The cars are important too as racing is all smoke and mirrors, so if the cars aren't sexy then nobody will care. GT4's for instance don't stir the blood and has a poor following as a result.I've never heard any racing driver call the most notorious race track in the world that before!
