Bill Heard had 13 or 14 stores, all of them enormous. They sold $2,500,000,000 worth of cars last year.

GMAC pulled their inventory financing line of credit, that sunk em. Lots of Chevy stores (Among others) going under right now over here. I quit my job from hell 2 months ago as a manager in the trade over here, haven't looked THAT hard, but few are hiring. Hmm.. wonder if Stratsone is? :lol:

Very interesting point about credit. I'm always amazed how many people on the US Corvette Forum are very young and buying their cars on really long credit (5 or 6 years isn't unusual!) - lose the line of credit and you lose a lot of business. I guess over here (new) Vettes are bought by older people who're less dependent on credit (although I'm now expecting to be proved completely wrong by those in the know ).

I wouldn't disagree but I think Bill was talking about the Dealer Stocking Facility which is a line of credit between GM and the dealer. I'd be surprised if any dealer financed the buyer direct - this is best left to a finance company (e.g.GMAC)
