Wow, picked up my 2007 Z06 yesterday, and i'm blown away! I drive some awesome cars on track through work, but i have never been in a 4 wheeled vehicle as good as this! Value for money,,,i accelerated in 4th gear from 70 mph up to 150 mph [on a private road of course!] in what seemed like 8 seconds!!
Insurance is 390 quid fully comp [46 year old], bargain!
Road tax 400 quid, ouch!
It goes round corners like its on rails & stops as sure footedly as a DBS. Steering is a touch vague, but i'm going to work on that, and you have to be precise & sometimes forceful with the gear lever, but allowing for the fact its a Vanquish gearbox with [i presume] a cable linkage, its bloody good.
Looks fantastic, & i haven't received any adverse reaction from Joe Public yet.

Just do it, take your money out of that failing bank, & invest it in something that makes you feel like you're climbing on to a 150 bhp motorbike.......

The vague steering was dealt with on the 08 Model along with a short-throw linkage and a click off on the shockers, just to make it that tad more compliant. You'll also find that at speed the car is set up to understeer, particularly over 100mph. Some wheel alignment could be quite interesting with a view to making the front end a bit pointier.

Glad you're enjoying it. The better you get to know it, the better it gets. Oh and regardless of what anyone says, you CAN heal and toe it.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying the ride. We just got back from a trip to Italy in our supercharged Z06, the route over the Swiss Alps was absolutely incredible. I was very surprised at the way the car handled, but as a recent first time owner of the Vette, confidence in taking those hairpin bends was somewhat lacking. Losing the car over a 2000ft drop was not my intention(who remembers the original film The Italian Job?) Nevertheless, the challenging 2000+ml.drive with friends in three Lamborghini's will be with us for a long time.
Your insurance premium sound very competitive, can I ask who that is with?

Thanks guys. I'm Broughton Astley, south west of Leicester. Got insured with Privilege insurance through Confused.com with an 8000 mile allowance. Does anybody know exactly what was done on the 08 model to cure the steering? Also, yes, heel & toe does work in the Vette.

We have one in stock actually as I bought one to try and fit to my racing car, but the chassis differences are too great, so it didn't fit.

Don't think there are any modern Vettes near you (my cousin lives in Stoney Stanton and I'm from Arnesby), and I don't think that car95 will see you passing by anytime soon...

Enjoy the car (it'd be difficult not to!)

Hi roughrider,

I'm in Broughton Astley quite alot as I have close friends that live near the Church. What colour is your car (not that it matters as there arent any other Z06's there) i'll be sure to keep an eye out for you at the weekends and give you a wave, im a keen photographer also so if ive the camera on me i'll be happy to take some snaps of the beast for you. (for a small fee of a PAX blast round the countryside of course lol).

Hi Matt.

Might go up to Ashby Folville tonight if the weather holds out. There is a meet there 2nd Tuesday of the month & some very nice vehicles turn up! I think the speed bumps are going to stop trips through Broughton unfortunately.....

Hi Paul,

Have heard lots about Ashby Folville meets never been up myself, but a few friends have been and have said that its worth the trip.

Yes them pesty traffic charming measures they have in the centre that dont actually slow down your average car at all, but would certainly take your bumpers off.

Looks like if you go up tonight there could be some sideways action involved with the weather at the moment! have fun if you do.

Look forward to catching a sight of you around broughton chap (i'll make sure to wear my pistonheads t-shirt LOL).

Matt

The roads from you to Ashby Folville (going via Kibworth) are good fun in a Z06. Nice flowing bends, adverse cambers.... You might hear the front air dam catch occasionally on the compressions though.

Well, so much for my plans, the other half is running the half marathon in Leicester this weekend, so i had to train with her tonight, bugger! I guess thats it for Ashby til spring now..
Yes, the roads over there are great, when foreign trucks using shatnav aren't blocking them up!! No wonder track days are so popular now.
Oh, its silver by the way! Wanted yellow or black, but perhaps its better being low key whistle

Welcome to the club, glad (but not surprised) to see how much you are enjoying it.

:-)

Bring it to the drag strip and we can have side by side silver Z06 races!

Hi. If you look on the classifieds here, Top Marques & Autotrader [national searches], the cheapest you see are 35k.
As its one of the first, if anybody wants one, you should be sitting pretty! Apparently, they are listed in Glasses Guide, and that is flippin low mileage!

As a retailer, ask £40 for the car and don't be surprised if your buyer is from mainland Europe
