Projected cashflow of minus three and a half billion dollars this year can't help frown

The post about the ZR1 being removed from the Chevrolet website is total rubbish as far as I can tell. I can still find every bit of detail on the website as has ever been there.....

GM shares which were trading at around $40 this time last year ended up at $4.76 at close of trade yesterday! - around the same price as they were in 1950!eek

Ah well! - mind youidea - I always thought the Z06 would be a collectors item one day!

Fantastic car!driving

Well anything's possible, bearing in mind Lotus Esprit fans have already been waiting more than 30 years for the "new model"....

Though I can't see long queues developing outside $100,000£ showrooms in the current climate.

According to one of the guys in the Heritage centre there's no truth to the rumour and it was started by a dealer talking up prices and given credence by Bowling Green being closed for a few days.

Thankfully, it's not: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/07/gm-on-zr1-cance...

I want there to be a good couple of thousand ZR1s out there before GM goes belly up, so at least I will be able to buy one in the future!

Actually, if that were to happen, I wonder if values would go up or down in the short term?

Expect an update from GM here on Monday. Rumours and speculation are pointless.

GM isn't killing the ZR1, they are still selling at an enormous premium over list and there's a huge waiting list.

Corvette sales are down less than 9% this year, the industry as a whole is down roughly 20%, but the current situation may well make that worse.

The Corvette is actually doing quite well in our current economic climate, all things considered.

In 1990, the price of Burago F 40 models suddenly shot through the roof after news emerged of a fire at the factory which had destroyed the dies. Grown men were suddenly hoarding model cars for which they had paid ludicrous prices. There never was a fire and, a short time later, the new stock was back down to selling at £14 per car.
This ZR1 story smells just as fishy as the fire story back then. I called the press office on Friday afternoon. I expect we'll have news on Monday. Enjoy the Grand Prix. Forza Lewis.

Something tells me that Rick Conti at EVS is going to be in a bit of bother with the General for spreading lies, blasphemy and bringing the name into disrepute. What a prat!

As anybody got a ZR-1 yet in the UK, I'm feed up of seeing cars sale at dealers like American carriage and American car imports to click on the photos and see press shot phots of the car with contact us for price! Why bother if you don't have the car. If I was spending that much on a car I would be getting a UK car! You gonna spend around £100k on car and then buy an import? I would think the rarest would be the euro cars.

Whats the new GM UK Pricing on the ZL-1? With the rest of the range coming down will we see them here for £79k?

Watching US TV on Friday (can't remember which of the channels, think it was ABC or CNN) and they were saying GM share price lowest it has been since 1940's at $4 a share. However they also said GM was not planning on shutting any plants and that their was a possibility of a potential bid for GM by a finance consortium. Lazarus??

ZR1 production is continuing and yes dealers are asking stupid premiums for the cars but surprise, surprise a lot of dealers have them sitting in their showrooms, even the one I saw at Road Atlanta was on dealer tags.

GM still own 51% of GMAC Finance the rest is owned by Cerberus the same company that bought Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, I think a lot of people would still be interested in owning GMAC as it makes money!

Whilst that would make them incredibly easy to sell, the fact that they are making large premiums across the water and the pitiful allocation for Europe seem to make it very unlikely.
