This week a white C6 came up for sale in Holland, recently imported from the USA and now on dutch plates.First registration date is 02-01-2005, so it must be build in 2004.Any advice where to look at ? Weak points ? What kind of tuning has been done in California ? Does the navigationsystem work in Europe ? Thanks for your help.

Rob.

Bearing in mind the 2006 Z06 in my stock for the same price, you may want to reconsider...

David is right. We are selling second hand cars back into Europe as the currency situation means it's cheaper to buy cars here than France, Germany, Holland, etc. etc. etc. You'd have more fun with a Z06 and you'd still have to pay £2,500 to change the headlights to LH dip.

To get an American car registrated in Holland one has to pay Importtax,BPM,Slurptax plus VAT.
In this case the seller who is asking 52.000 Euro for his C6 MY05 did pay 26.000 Euro !! in total to receive his Dutch plates. Also the seller invested time and money to modify the car to get it through the Dutch DVLA.
My conclusion is he is asking a fair price for a ready to go Vette.

The strength of the Euro now means we are seeing an increasing number of sales to mainland Europe.
Prices here are much more competitive.

I'm intrigued. I think popular wisdom has been that US Vettes can pass SVA and MoT with US spec headlamps so I guess the continental Euro lamps must be different, with a distinctive RH dip pattern. But even so, why £2,500 for a set of UK headlamps??

'fraid not. But you should be aware that a modified Vette, sourced via a third country and in white would be seen by many potential customers as having a "caution" label attached.

looking at laserblues profile, he is in the Netherlands. Presuming that he is purchasing the car for use over there then the tax implications of buying Le Mans lovely yellow Z06 might be prohibitive, and he would not be purchasing as a 'third country' as 5USA stated.

White is the new silver anyway Steve...

To answer the question about the navigation, it will work, but needs a European disk, but it will not tune in to all European frequencies. I don't know if the US cars have TMC on the nav either.

Couldn't answer the question about tuning. 50hp increase seems generous if it is only a re map / plug in tuning box...

U.S. spec lamps are different to Euro Spec lamps. U.S. lamps don't have a strong beam pattern and can therefore be made to pass an SVA test and MOT. Euro spec. lamps kick the high beam the wrong way and as the lamp is a sealed unit they cannot be opened or fixed for use in the U.K. The cost of two replacement headlights is circa £2500.

Mitch - surely all you'd do is buy a US set of lamps at $500?? Why buy UK lights at such a silly price it would not make sense to do that.

Given that we now just focus on EU cars I don't have to bother anymore.

I was under the impression that GM in the US list their lights at $998 per side.

Two sealed, painted, xenon headlights for $500 would be the cheapest in the world..... Unless you were shopping in a salvage yard perhaps.

I sold our Ron Fellows demo to a dealer in Germany in January 2008. Subsequently, whilst looking for his address, I found his website - he had just pinched our photos from the Pistonheads classified ad and priced the car with a 10,000 euro margin.

He was threatening to buy one of the stock Ron Fellows cars too but I left before that happened and I doubt anyone followed him up!

I honestly don't know. The UK Ron Fellows allocation was 6 cars and I sold 2 of them - one to you and one to the dealer in Germany; I think the German dealer sold the car to someone in the South of France. Does anyone else on Pistonheads have one that you know of?

The RF Z06 is, without question, the coolest car I'm ever likely to drive!

The first of the 6 cars was actually sold back to Kroymans in a deal to get Escalade allocation. As Stephen said he exported another, leaving four (one of which is car95).
I believe that one was sold by Reading and one by Birmingham, but I don't know what happened to the fourth.
