Try Kieth Beschi for your oil, he's always very competitive and a decent bloke to do business with aswell as being a long term vette parts supplier.

Until recently, I always used Motul 300V 5/40...never a problem.
I also changed the M20-13/16" threaded adaptor in the sump to an M20-M20...
This allows the use of a cheapy Purflux Citroen filter...easily available anywhere.
I'm temporarily back onto US style 13/16" threaded filters as I swapped my sump last time around as I wasnt sure what way the filter adaptor would come, so I bought a few US filters with the sump......Once Ive run out of them, I'll be back to the M20x1.5 cheapy ones.
Im also going to switch to Millers oil next time around. Probably their 10/60 CFS stuff.
Its easier to get hold of here...I was having to pay loads for the Motul in big drums, and postage was crazy.

Just keep in mind that the Costco Mobil 1 is 5W-40, not the US spec 5W-30. It will not harm your car but should not be compared to in price to the correct viscosity imported stuff.
I fully recommend Opie Oils, they have all the top brands. I have used Amsoil in my Vettes for a while and personally from my research it is superior to Mobil 1 in EVERY way.
I use 0W-30 Amsoil synthetic (can't remember if it has a specific name), it's well suited to the UK's climate.

Oil is a very subjective choice. However, I'm currently using Motaquip 5W30 fully synth from PartCo (motor factors) in my C6. Cost me something like £20 per 5-litre container. Don't get sucked-in too much by brand marketing/loyalty... check the API rating on the back of the container as a benchmark to compare different oils.

Personally I've never understood why anyone would want to mess around with lubricants. You're not going to see any real improvement in performance and only run the risk of choosing an oil with the wrong viscosity and detonating your engine. I know of at least 3 LS engines that have been blown up racing through the wrong oil choice, all as a result of Purple Oils. Oil is cheap and engines aren't.

Well, there's no 'right' or 'wrong' viscosity... depends on the environment you're using the car in and the application. However, I stick to 5W30, as that is the 'right' viscosity for normal road use in this kind of climate. GM say use Mobil 1, but that's just a marketing agreement between GM and Mobil lubricants; any decent quality (as defined by the API classification) oil of the appropriate viscosity will do the job just as well.To each his own.
GM developed the engine using Mobil 1. Their knowledge base and the commitment they make to customers is based on using the same lubricant. To deviate from the approved lubricant puts you out in uncharted territory and why would you want to do that?
It may well be that there are lubricants which are just as good, and maybe even better but why run the risk of being wrong?
GM have a good track record when it comes to sorting out broken motors. Play ball. Use the right oil.

Do you mean Royal Purple? I thought they were one of the most highly-regarded brands in the States. And do you race with the OEM Mobil 1 5W30?
I was thinking of swapping to Motul 300v which by all accounts is a superior ester-based true synthetic.
I remember a story my race mechanic told me when Andy Rouse was racing Mobil 1 sponsored RS500s.
They were topping the car up with oil from a Mobil 1 container, but the oil was the very distinctive, sweet-smelling and orange coloured Motul!
Given free choice away from marketing deals, few lubricant experts would recommend Mobil 1 IME.
