I was reading the Evo story on taking a new yellow Z06 to Sweden and they mention a weight of 1418kg.
But when browsing E-bay America and looking in detail at a Z06 for sale the VIN plate (well, the US version of a VIN plate, 30th picture down) states that the vehicle Gross Weight is 1606kg?

So, is the European spec different?
I can't believe that a 'wet' weight is 200kg difference.

Anybody know what the real weight of the cars is?

The kerb weight is 1418 kg with a maximum permissible mass of 1650kg.
Weight distribution is 50/50 and the maximum payload is 232 kg.

maximum permissible mass? Does that mean that if you weigh 200kg you are too fat to drive one?

Ah, so the GVW label shown in picture 30 is actually the maximum weight? I'm still confused as it reads 1606kg.
Is the difference between your figure of 1650 (1418 + 232) vs 1606 (as stated by GM) Dry vs Wet then?

So two portly (average?) yanks at 100kg plus some luggage in the boot puts em over the cars permissable weight then.

Seemingly, you'll be able to take fuel and baggage to a combined weight of 32kg, but, at 200kg, you're unlikely to be able to get in.

We may joke....but on the US Corvette Forum people have raised this as a serious issue! There are a lot of people on there who weigh upwards of 250 pounds and have partners who're not much lighter, giving a grand total in excess of 200kg.

Serves them bloody right. Stop eating the pies. Etc Etc. And here's to airlines charging 'em double for spilling over the chairs either side of them, or indeed the isles.

Maybe a little harsh. No, on second thoughts...

Check the GM website for the Kerb weight of the car not Ebay.

There is also a difference in spec when weighing, in another thread today someone said GM weigh there cars with half a tank of fuel and all fluids.

But that aside I really wouldn't worry to much about it, the car is still fast and very capable.

If you weigh that much then you hardly need a Z06 do you?!
