Anyone watch the Spa race on Channel 4 in the early hours, there was a right old tussle between the Vettes and Aston.
One of the Vettes caught fire in the pit lane, did that car ignite

It was on earlier too the C6R that caught fire in the pit lane was rebuilt and continued racing albeit for 5 more laps before they parked it as they were having brake problems. The car came out to take the finish so that it would be classified. The fire was caused by a cracked fuel injector which finally broke spraying fuel over the engine. Gollin in the car at the time was heading for the pits with low fuel pressure and a strong smell of fuel when the car caught fire.

Nige, I'm amazed they got the car back on the track, from what I could see it looked well alight. Good race though.

In my limited experience, fire in a car with a reinforced plastic body results in a sorry little pile of thatch wrapped around various mechanicals...
