I went into Reading about two weeks ago to look at the ZR6 they talked to me for a while and I expressed an interest to trade up my C5 and test drive their demonstrator apparently they were going to call me back and organise a test drive.

They haven’t called yet; perhaps they hope I will chase them for the business

They do expect you to do all the chasing. Maybe we should publish a guide: "Customers are from Mars and Strats are from Venus" smile

Seriously, if you can go somewhere else then do so (i.e. if Manc isn't a problem for you).

Hey, what happened to the other 20-odd pages of this thread?

It still has the same misspelt title, so it's not a new one...

Well top last night and I am still buzzing,

I had my first run out in a ZO6 and its definitely worth the step up. I saw David Yu come back in one piece with Mitch rem BM and with out any arm-twisting I was promptly offered a spin, it was like doing a track lap at Brands with a pro driver as co-pilot pushing you on, if you like blatting about, its much different on acceleration and slowing down very quick in 3rd

Thanks again Mitch and good luck at Silverstone this weekend

I didn't have any problems getting a test drive (note: not at Reading!) - it was their useless approach to servicing that annoyed me!

But the dealership shut after you took delivery of your car...

I used to feel sorry for Trevor at Derby, he had the best intentions but couldn't seem to find any business... until the month that they decided to close and then he sold three!

Sorry James - the trouble is the dealership for servicing was Reading - and they're meant to be open

Good afternoon.

I'm the tt from Stratstone so graciously referred to here, and I feel it's only right that I put the record straight.

My first point would be that I only stayed for an hour because I received a distraught phone call from my wife to say that she had just arrived home to find that our home had been burgled. I'll leave the rest of this bit to your imagination.

Secondly, why should the fact that I used to work for a Volkswagen retailer mean that I have no idea about "the Corvette thing?" Given the high emphasis Volkswagen place on customer care, I would have thought that someone from that background would be welcomed by those here who are always complaining (perhaps not without some justification in some instances), and given a chance to show what he can do. Instead, we have a less than complimentary comment here from someone who has had a brief conversation with me and doesn't have any real idea of what I'm all about. Very brave, to make a personal attack on someone who you don't think is going to see your comments, and about whom you really have no knowledge. If there is any one here who has a complaint to make about me or the way that Park Lane has been operating in the last three months, then I'm only too happy to address their issues.

I drive a 2-year old CTS for a number of reasons, chief amongst which is the fact that it's difficult to get a wife, an 80 year old mother and assorted other family members into a Corvette, which is something I have to do on numerous occasions. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy driving a Corvette when the opportunity arises, or don't actually do so; it simply wasn't practical for me to do so last Thursday.

Right, now I've got that off my chest, if any one here wants to have a sensible conversation about how we can improve the situation, I'm only too happy to participate.

Clearing through the cr*p on my computer yeasterday I came across 10 photos of a convertible boot. Wondering why I had amassed such 'interesting' pictures I realised that someone that I had never spoken to before was concerned that their new car (which was arriving just before Le Mans) might be too small for their usual clobber...

Hi-jacking the thread slightly. If anyone is trying to contact me from tomorrow I will not respond until at least 1st August as I will be driving down to Spain in the morning for a well earned holiday)
Looking forward to getting up at dawn break in Biarritz on Wednesday and zig zagging over the Pyrennes (West - East) to a fishing town near Girona.
Shame it wont be in a Corvette...(unless someone would like to drop one off to London Bridge tonight driving )

If only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen.

Then again, if Carlsberg did sell Corvettes, they'd probably supply them via
Bauer Millett.

Don't worry James, we will take care of your flock.... Hasta La Vista

 You should see how good we are at packing stuff in there now.

However, I'm sure you wouldn't have taken my car in for a service and returned it 3 days later without bothering to inform me that it wasn't returning on the expected and booked day. Or try to tell me that the stereo on my £50k car is designed to have ridiculous level of background hiss

And to the new chap - I've never had an issue with my VW dealer and my Passat, so I agree, you could probably use that a a good basis.

If i may respond to your post...

sorry about your sad news, hope your house wasn't too badly invaded.

The issues you are having to deal with here are many in number.
but the important ones are;

firstly, the complete lack of service stratstone (james apart) have managed to supply thus far.
secondly, the way your competitor (BM) have interacted with the community and bent over backwards to facilite the corvette experience.

talking from personal experience, i was after a C6 a few months ago for my other half.
we tried and failed to get a response from any of the stratstone locations (i.e. phoned, left messages, asked for someone to call us back on more than one occasion)

we finally managed to get someone from the Birmingham site to talk to and got a test drive.
we then specified the sort of car we were after, (colour, body type and options) to be told there were none available.

the chap clearly wanted us to buy a new one from his own stock as when i went online i found exactly what we were after on the site.

cue another week of fruitless attempts to contact dealers (including the birmingham office...)

i finally gave up and bought something else instead.

Add my experience to those detailed both here and on the previous thread and you can see some of the issues you face.

The smaller independants like BM (who have many satisfied customers willing to shout about it) and 51st State (who i have had excellent dealings with) have the customer service thing sorted.

everyone makes mistakes, it's how you deal with them that either breeds loyalty or contempt.

Leroy I suspect it will be an up hill struggle for you but lets see how you get on and judge you on your merits.

For my point I wanted a test drive in a Z06 and went to Reading, spent some of my valuable time with a sales man who promised to see what he could do, he told me that you have a demonstrator in Manchester and then call me back. I know that Manchester is an affluent area but I would have expected that such a large group as your self’s might have had one closer. Perhaps you can look into this, its been several weeks and so far he hasn’t called me back.

Its disappointing you didn’t stay longer at the Fairmile or had made an effort to obtain a suitable car for the event to perhaps promote your company in some way. Its Just a suggestion and a bit late now I know but couldn’t you have found a Corvette of any kind and got some Stratenstones Stickers on the side, you were made aware of the meeting and the importance that it was to the club and the effort that GM put in surely it was a bit of a wasted opportunity on your part and a bit of an apathetic approach to selling cars will never wash epically if it’s an up hill struggle

Welcome Leroy.

Despite some of the knee-jerk criticisms on here, don't be frightened off. (Give the (new) man a break!) Corvette people are really enthusiastic, which is why they get disappointed easily too. Many of us would certainly rather that there is a good national network of dealers than not. Good luck!

Said it before and will say it again bought my z06 from stratstones newcastle new last september, fantastic service from the very first phone call and by the time i collected it i was on first names terms with half the dealership! my car was sitting ready and gleaming and upon leaving i asked for an oil filter to be posted out which arrived 2 days later!
no complaints here! i do realise i may be in the minority but i wonder how many other happy customers dont bother to post?
that said next GM product i'll probably give BM or 51 a go for a change as they seem a switched on friendly bunch!
simon
