Having - stupidly - pasted on the current Z06 I thought I'd tuck away an order for the ZR06. Yes those nice people who have premises in Mayfair said - you'll be No2 on our list and we anticipate the car will be £100K!! Oh,right, I spluttered - and promptly sorted an order via friend in States. Surely they were joking?

Dare one ask how much you are paying for the car out of the U.S.? I'm guessing you mean a ZR1.

Yes, that's the blighter! Don't know how to change topic heading sadly. I'm currently being told just a shade more in Dollars than our friends had quoted me £s but it's early days and I've actually got someone checking several sources before I commit. That's cost Stateside before importing of course.

Talking to friends who are dealers in the U.S. the list is $110,000 plus options but the cars are actually being sold at $160,000 at which it is cheaper to buy a U.K. car with a warranty. I'd be interested to know if you get a good deal though! We're expecting the U.K. to actually be circa £90k+ but as yet there is no official pricing.

Hi mitch. I was over in States when Z06 first hit the showrooms and dealers were saying $20/$30k over list but, when it came down to it, I found two - just by walking in off street - who were prepared to do deals at only $10k over even in the cars very early days. I've got a couple of friends over there who always get very early cars and NEVER pay over list so I'm hopeful. If there turns out to be no saving I'll buy in UK for the reasons you suggest but not until I'm happy that someone's not pulling my chain price wise! I'll keep in touch.

Now that would be a very cool car to have Pugsey!

I had a letter of intent in, but it's just a bit too pricey to be my track car.

It will be an absolutely devastating road car though. Have you seen the 'Ring vid elsewhere in this forum?
Scary! eek

spent some time in Detroit looking at one- and boy what a car!! it is really quite extraordinary. A couple of my dealers in the States are now talking about selling them at list- probably about $116k meaning £87000 landed and registered here should be achievable through an independent importer. Mind you the deals on Z06s are ridiculous at the moment- new 08 ones for £53/54k are definitely achievable. In general it is quite frightening what is happening on the States on pricing.

As an example, we sold a Limited Ford f150 (before a certain person moans- i use this purely as an example, I am well aware that this is a corvette forum!)for just over £30k a month ago. Since then the price has dropped in the States on exactly the same spec truck meaning we could sell the same truck for £6k less and still retain our margin. A 20pc drop in a month is scary!!

er... when did they say this... given that I've been "number 2 on their list" for a year or so?

Sorry - twas their Reading set up I spoke to but the point you raise demonstrates another reason why I'll probably avoid them frankly.
