Just a heads up for those that are interested, Top Gear magazine were over on the Isle of Man this week with a group of cars, presumably doing a group test thingy.

They had an 08 plate C6 Z06, nissan GTR, porsche GT2/3, Aston DBS, Audi RS6, it will be interesting to see how they rate the vette, presumably this one had the upgraded interior and gearbox.

Not sure which issue it would be, September I suppose...

Hopefully it won't be the clearly below-par yellow example Autocar featured against the GT2.

It got spanked in a way a 505hp Z06 simply could not have been...

It's the same GM press car that's been lent to Top Gear on a long term test. I think a fast yet poorly driven car will always be slow. Like putting Ralf Schumacher back in an F1 car! HAHA!

It was the yellow one but no track driving, although they did close the roads for them so a bit of the TT course instead.

Maybee they shifted at the redline this time...

Although he was woefully ignorant about the Z06, I always rated Chris Harris's opinions and driving ability.

Tis true the Z06 needs an experienced hand to get the best out of it, but the figures on that test were pathetic and easily beatable by a stock C6.

And what's wrong with a boggo standard C6? (from someone who thought he had a Z arriving but was obviously a fantasy....)!

Nothing at all mate!

But a Z06 should be a lot faster.

Don't worry about the fictitious Z06, trade yours in and buy one that actually exists! You know it makes sense...

LOL!

No I didn't. One of the reasons I want to sell my '06 and start again with an '09 tuned properly on a rolling road in the US as opposed to installing a "best guess" PCM like I had to do with the Euro car.

The Yellow Z06 is now in our workshop and the tyres bear testament to the inhumanity of the Top Gear testers. The fronts need changing and the rears are just gone....... Do hope it won!

So is this not the yellow Z06 that was for sale on the opposite side of the
field to you at the Nationals - I thought that was the old press car?

No. That was a used car purchase from an owner who was re-locating to Dubai. It became the northern demonstration car and was passed around from branch to branch because no-one wanted to keep it long enough that they would get stuck with the cost of reconditioning it.
