'cept the name of the guy that was announced isn't exactly the same as the one that was on the list I saw! It was something like Michael then surname (Troiano).

Thanks for the link. Did they make a loss on it or is the link just a part of the history. It says they made £3k for the air ambulance which is a worthy cause but a c5's worth much more then that. Were there some other fund raising events covering the value of the car?

Presumably £3,000 is the difference between cash collected fromn the ticket sales and the cost of the prize.

Oh Bugger, I didn't win it then.

I know they sold all 1000 tickets at £20 a pop so assume the £3,000 is the profit.

Indeed. The money given to the EAAA is the extra made over and above the cost of purchase/storage/transportation etc.. smile

Ho hum, it`s a bitter disappointment that my drive is still empty but I feel it was well worth a punt given the excellent management of the raffle benefitted the charity to the tune of £3k!

I'm totally with you on that one - and 10/10 to the organisation that went behind it.

More of the same please, in credit-crunch land £20 is a third of a night out and better spent speculating on the free Vette market anyway. I`m thinking `65/`66 convertible though, and unfortunately my celebrated and continuous raffle luck seems to have a prize value ceiling just above a bottle of Baileys.

On a serious note and not trying to be bit Ben Elton, would a modern era
Corvette not be a better marketing tool as I would assume the 'non Corvette'
public would be more likely to buy a ticket for a car that they could drive
as a daily driver and know of from recent media reports?

I disagree, the general public wouldn't know the difference betweeen a C5,C6 and a Ferarri or a Lambo or any other modern supercar.
They equally wouldn't be able to name a midyear vette or a C3,but they know its OLD,it doesn't frighten them, they could insure it cheaply etc, and could be worth a lot of money when they put it on Ebay, which is what they will do !

As I see it is selling 1,000 tickets at £20 although it appeared daunting was relatively easy and in fact the club could have sold more tickets as all had gone before the Nationals and I am sure that members attending and members of the public would have bought tickets.
Well done to the club for selling all the tickets beforehand and therefore not having to worry about breaking even.
To find a decent C2 / C3 for £15,000 which is about the amount they would need to spend on the car as a raffle prize might prove difficult or you could say 2,000 tickets at £20 each and buy a car for say £30,000 that way the last 500 tickets sold would be the charity money, but could the club risk the outlay of £30,000?
I for one would buy a lot of tickets for a 1965 396 Convertible in Red with a White roof, black interior and original knock off wheels.........
