Been on the lookout for some cars..
Corvette is quite high on the list...
C5 prices seem to be up at around 17k for a Manual, which is what i want... however if i spend an extra 3k i can get the Z06, this would be my limit though.
What is the difference between the C5 and Z06, is it just 50bhp ish? Surely that could be made up with minor tweaking?

It should be top! Where else are you going to find 405BHP as standard for £20k?
C5 Z06 vs C5 well the Z06 is a little lighter and has the extra 50BHP over the C5, but the C5 has the removable targa roof or it is convertible. The Z06 is manual only whereas Coupe / Convertible can be either Auto or Manual.
Z06 has a boot like the convertible whereas Coupe has hatchback.
Z06 started in 2001 with 385BHP, then 2002-04 was 405BHP.

There's a little more to it than FRC body, LS6 motor and manual gearbox. Depending on the year, Z06 has larger, lighter wheels and tires, revised final drive, titanium exhaust and more efficient brake cooling. It was limited to FRC for the sake of structural rigidity and lightness, but that body shape is the least flattering to the C5 marque for many folks.
It could be argued that you can achieve close to Z06 power gains in a C5 coupe/conv by adding a more aggressive camshaft, larger throttle body/blackwing, long-tube headers and a cat-back exhaust, for the extra money the Z06 commands.

I definately want a manual.
It is VERY high on my list, obvioulsy the usual TVR M3 and Esprit turn up on it too.
I currently have an Mr2 turbo, a little tuned, so is running about 300, not postivie that the standard C5 will be a step up in speed from the MR2.
I like the Z06, and at an extra 50bhp, its decent, though i could probably make that up with good exhuast, cats off, and a remap.
I always had a couple, so im not really bothed about covertible, although one would be pretty cool, if i could find a manual.
