Corvette ZR1 - News update.
Discussion
Censored version at the request of someone whose name I cannot reveal.
The ZR1 was possibly shown to some delegates at a GM conference rumoured to have taken place near Cologne yesterday.
Here's the news.
A GM spokesman said that the 2008 allocation for the UK would be some cars.
The European allocation for 2009 is secret.
The US build quantity is secret( quite a lot ) and some will be coming to some European countries. In 2010, some more will come to some countries near you.
The power output was stated yesterday as lots of BHP.
The top speed is quite high and the 0-60 time is quite low.
The price is rumoured to be more than a Tata Nano but less than a Rolls Royce Phantom.

If there are to be two this year then, as #2 on Stratstone's list, I'm surprised I haven't heard from them about it...
I would get hold of Le Man and see what his allocation situation is.Judging by that other thread, it could be wise not to rely on Stratstone!
I have a letter of intent with them and have not heard a dicky bird, but I am not likely to be buying a UK ZR1 if it is going to cost £95k. Too many other expensive toys in the pipeline!
DETROIT – The official Corvette ZR1 numbers are in and they're good. Very good:

0-100 mph in 7.0 seconds

The standard ZR1 comes with accoutrements based on the Z06, including lightweight seats and lightweight content. The available uplevel interior package includes power-adjustable, heated and leather-trimmed sport seats (embroidered with the ZR1 logo); side air bags; Bose premium audio system; navigation system; Bluetooth connectivity; power telescoping steering column; custom leather-wrapped interior available in four colors and more. According to fueleconomy.gov, the ZR1's EPA-rated 14 city and 20 highway mileage ratings beat 2008 competitors such as the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (11 city / 15 highway); the Lamborghini Murcielago (8 city / 13 highway) and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage (12 city / 19 highway). They're competitive with the Dodge Viper (13 city / 22 highway) and the Porsche 911 GT3 (15 city / 22 highway).

Plus of course if you take the best 0-60, best 0-100 and best 1/4-mile time achieved by each of the magazines, you have Z06 stats that equal the official ones for the ZR1, even if there's a wide margin between the official numbers.
True, the ZR1 won't be dramatically faster than an LPE Z06 as the extra power will be partially offset by the extra weight.
However the gearing should make quite a difference at higher speeds as effectively a Z06 only has 5 gears plus overdrive.
Stock v stock the ZR1 will be much faster everywhere, including on track due to its tyres and brakes.
