Time to play around again.
Discussion
With the footy season over and parts arriving from the U.S it's time to get the old girl ready for summer. Just to re-cap; I had played around with the engine hoping to recover lost horse power after reaching the mid five hundreds on the dyno. Parts were sent to the states to be re-machined, then returned for me to re-fit. Unfortunately I went the step too far and took out the secondaries, not being a mechanic it was something I didn't fully understand the procedure of and the car ran like a bag of crap. Consequently I locked it away, prefering to read up more on the subject. After seeking advice I decided to go back to basics and fit the secondaries back in the engine which would give me more hours of experience working with an LT5. To do this it was engine out and while it was out it was time to get close and check the timing again as well as tidy up the Engine Loom.
Here's a few piccys to share, showing my assault on the beast all Ive got to do now is hope it starts
Tools at the ready and gearbox out. I plumbed for buying the proper equipment rather than hire it, being a " non professional mechanic " I might need to use this gear more
Ok that wasn't too bad she came out of the tight fit with the aid of a few ratchet straps to alter angles every few minutes. Sainbury trolleys base come in handy ha.
On the stand and with the covers off so I can re-check the timing that I did some time back. It was good but I went over it again to get better results.
While I'm at it lets put the secondaries back, now how does this go
Need to sort out and clean up the loom, checking the wires are OK. There are no eggs in this nest ha and we need to light up the subject just to make sure.
Thats better, Flywheel, clutch and bell housing also re-fitted ready to be united with tut car.
In she goes, them ratchet straps come in handy.
From another angle, that reminds me I need to stain that fence now spring is in the air.
Now to charge the battery up and see if she will fire up this weekend. Fingers crossed.

Thanks, nor did I, but the heartening aspect of taking it apart is it starts to become familiar. I'm hoping to fire it up this weekend, probably sunday and if all goe's well I will be back in the fold, otherwise it could be a long summer locked in the garage for me.
I have a deal with my neighbour. If I don't mind her dog barking then she doesn't mind my car barking. She loves her dog, I love my car and we get along just fine.

Cheers Nige. I will try to make it. Turned her over today and kept blowing "Inj 1" fuses, I think the fuel pump might be jammed.

Bet you didn't know that in PC free Australia you can go into a Halfords type of emporium and buy a can of "start yer bastard !" off the shelf !
The more reserved brits still prefer the good old easystart with the temper tantrums !
Update; Joking aside, after changing the plugs and sorting out a few gremlins the car starts on the button every time. The ticking noise has now gone and appears to have been nothing more than a sticking lifter, one things for sure timing multi cams is a lot easier with the engine out of the car. Next up is to tune and get her ready for the summer and then start adding a few more mods.
All done.
All done.
