Here's a video that was linked up on another forum of the 09 ZR1 in top speed testing. 205mph and it looks like it is extremely stable too.

Looks and sounds great. Wish they'd get rid of the overdrive sixth and close up the ratios on the Z06 too - but then it would have gas guzzler tax applied in the US I suppose (the ZR1 is the first Vette to be taxed this way).

What is the actual position on the ZR1 coming in to the UK via Stratstone or Bauer Millet? Will they be getting any allocation?

18 for the UK, but I don't know if that is for the first year or in total.

Bauer Millet are actively selling their allocation, dunno about Stratstone.

Godzilla is correct and I was told on the Montpellier trip that the 2009 allocation for the UK would be 18. We do have an order book open for ZR1 and promise that we shall still be here when your car comes. This may be our USP.

The ZR1 has a completely different gear set to the Z06, 6th is much shorter allowing it to max in that gear and be a true close ratio 6 speed gearbox. The Z06 effectively has a close ratio 5 speed box with an overdrive 6th.

The ZR1 is an awesome car, but the biggest mistake is that ridiculous window on the bonnet.

A cowl induction hood, or better yet, the vented hood used on the GT3 or GT1 race cars would have been far more appropriate and would have linked the race cars to the road cars.

Peering through a window on the bonnet to see simply a plastic cover that obscures the engine is just daft.

Yup, it's a bit naff, you just know Top Gear will poke fun at it.

Hopefully it's an option, can't see anyone liking it, if you want to see what your engine looks like, open the hood.

I think that was GM's answer to the clear covers on the Ferrari & more recent Audi R8 that sparked that idea off in their head. A bit daft I's agree but certainly wouldn't stop me wanting to own one....

Btw does anyone know, is magnetic ride an option in a ZO6?

I believe Magnetic Ride is going to be fitted to the ZR-1 as standard. Option will be full leather interior and chrome wheels.

Yesh that's the point I was (trying to) make. I'd rather have the close ratio box on my Z06, even though here in the US that would add a few thousand to the price as the mpg stats would suffer.

Magenticx ride is not an option on the Z06 (at least when I bought mine it wasn't).

BTW, Callaway in Germany will perform a conversion from leaf spring to proper shocks and springs. Takes about a day or two, cost roughly 4k EUR (£3200).
I'm sure there are folks here that can do the conversion too.
