Saw the advert and thought that was crazy money. scratchchin

Not saying it is the same car, but there was a LMB one kicking around on here for ages mid 20's that
has now gone from the lisitings, so it could well be the same one and it was suggested to me there
was a reason for it being so low.

As I said above, a C6 for under 20k really is crazy money. rolleyes

If it's a red one, I think you'll find it's done over 90k miles.

Going rate for an 06 C6 with sensible miles is mid-high 20's.

Ad reads: 2006 C6.Le Mans Blue.Black Leather
Z51 pack.Sat/nav/dvd
28k and simply superb
Price £19500 Repeat £19500
It's about time C6s dropped below
the twenty mark. But please no p/x

Thats exactly how it reads.

The chap selling the car is called Adrian Dromey he has been selling Corvettes for years, he is based up in Lincolnshire and I very nearly bought a car from him when I was looking for a '72 back in the mid 90's I still wish I had bought the car it was a 1972 white Coupe with a Blue interior.
Adrian tends to buy cars from people who are desparate to sell for whatever reason and therefore screws them on the price but to be fair he then sells the car on cheap rather than looking for market value for them.

There was an LBM / black Z51 car sold on eBay (.co.uk) a while back that had a US salvage title and has been repaired over here. Looked very nice and sold for a few Grand less than £19.5k. Bet it's the same car. Cars are cheap for a reason... ESPECIALLY when they're being sold by a dealer. BUT, even if it IS the same car, it's still a fair price if it's been repaired to a top standard. Would be equiv. to a UK Cat-D.

There are a lot of salvage titles out there, I learnt the hard way. It wouldn't surprise me if that C6 has a chequered history.

Always run a carfax report on any US Imports, the fact a car was written off in the US doesn't necessarily make it onto the records over here.

Carfax and the like always good advice. I would second vettheadracers view of Adrian Dromey though who has a good reputation, and has done for some years. Unlike some others we hear of from time to time.

It seems mad why would you sell it so cheap and muck up the C6 resale market and late C5v market if he wants 20k for a 06 car whats a 01 C5 worth 7k??
Its seems to good to be true and I know Chris Graham spoke to me some time ago about so cars he had be offered that when he looked into them they had be written off in the states. better off asking 27k and selling it with no questions asked.

In the last quarter of last year I was offered 5 Corvettes in the space of fortnight. Three of them turned out to be listed as 'JUNK' on the GM Vehicle Identity System and the 4th had quite obviously been crashed and repaired over here. There's a lot of dross drifting around out there. If anyone knows a reg. or VIN for the car mentioned I can easily check on the GM database. On this note there is a Le Mans Blue Z06 for sale which was crashed at Stratstone. If anybody is thinking of buying the car mail me and I'll forward some photos of the damage....

re bad usa titles ie salvage , flood, fire ,cod, there are many corvettes coming from the states with unclean titles, the only way to get a clear title is to see it, any good importer should keep a copy car over 10 year old do not show on carfax i believe

Well, seems like prices havnt moved for 2 years. I suspect the depths of the recession was partly responsible for the low pricing at the time.

With less C6's for sale why would owners sell them off cheap? It's not like you can order a new one in the Uk unless you go and get one from a grey importer but with the dollar rate the way it is that's not cheap!

I disagree. I think you will find that C6 prices (and later C5) have firmed up quite a lot recently. It’s not like there are that many to choose from at present and indeed there are no new ones being officially imported into the UK unless I am mistaken. It would have cost you a hell of a lot less to bring a C6 a year plus ago than now, that alone will push import prices up.

Anyway, who resurrected this old thread?! And indeed why?

We have sold a couple of new Corvettes recently so there is still some activity. For purposes of comparison C6 Targa's now have to start in the late £40,000's and Z06s at just over £60,000 dependent on spec. It's all thanks to our currency being aligned with Andrex. I very much doubt it's cheaper to import them from the U.S. either at the moment......

The Andrex bit I particularly found amusing - haven't heard that line before...

We have exactly the same scenario in our game - all the trade and retail prices have shot up in the last eighteen months as most of our products are sourced via Japan, EU and America. Customers soon get used to the inevitable increase in prices (we're still here and had a very good 2009) and of course it pushes up the used values. Which is very nice if you are currently sitting on a good clean low mileage example but not so if you are waiting to buy looking at old threads quoting out of date prices..... (couldn't resist that bit)
