During the mid 70's, John Greenwood was successfully racing and winning in the Trans Am Championship, flaunting a Star Spangled liveried wide body Corvette. While the Oil Embargo was hitting the industry it's hardest, John was keeping sports car excess in the eye of the public with the Greenwood GT, a street version of his wide-body race car. Some love it, others aren't so keen. In any case, it is unique, and quite rare!

Thanks for the pics - and if you don't mind me asking - what is your connection with this? I assume you took them for a photoshoot - tell us more!

Super looking car - I've got a couple of the Scalextric versions (as I believe has Gixer too)

Yes, I took the photoset a few days ago.

The car was bought about a year ago, in a non-original color, and in generally poor condition. It spent about the last 6 months being restored at Warner Meyer's shop, with a few non-original details... such as switching out the automatic transmission in favor of a hurst 4 speed. The engine is also a non-smog engine, making about 450-500 hp in its current form. Greenwood's are quite rare these days, but they have a significant following.

John Greenwood was a famous corvette racer back in the 70's, finding his way to national champion, and representing GM well at Le Mans several times in his wide-body Corvettes.

Hope that's what your looking for Franv8

That's great - can't believe he went for making the steroid induced shape of the C3 even more muscular! Did you get a ride in it? I imagine they're a bit of a handful with the extended width of the rubber.
