Interesting. I often come across this same point with my other cars. Dealer bashing is a great British sport and everyone likes to think they're getting a bargain by shopping elsewhere. My own experience has been that dealers often have competitive pricing on routine service parts such as batteries, filters, pads, discs etc.
i was going to post something about tyres !
Originally i was on the awful Goodyear runflats - dreadful, low grip, bad in the wet
Went to Toyo Proxies - excellent tyre - pretty good value as well
I'm now on Michelin Pilots - which I've found to be even grippier than the Toyo's - but of course the do cost a bit more.
Also produce better smoke when doing donuts
Micheldever carry a wide range of manufacturers, shapes and sizes. Perhaps even colours too! There's generally some serious sports cars down there when I visit. Micheldever are big on high performance tyres and generally carry stock as opposed to needing to order in - no guarantees though. They won't ruin your wheels fitting the tyres either, which is nice.
"Protyre is fully backed by Micheldever Tyre Services Ltd, the UKs biggest and best tyre distribution company which guarantees the biggest selection of tyres, with the best availability and at the most competitive prices, no one can match our buying power"

I replied to this post as we have a reputation for being more expensive than Corvette specialists in the country which I think is ill-deserved. I notice from other posts on this thread that our price for C6 Z06 tyres is still cheaper than anybody else who has posted and we always have them in stock too.

Are the Bridgestones available now, in stock in the UK? They are a very new tyre in that size I believe.325/30x19 (Rear)

Maybe I'm missing the point here, but aren't EMTs and RFTs both run-flats? Vette owners generally tend to be heading in the other direction.
Regarding the Bridgestones, has anyone ever tried them on a Vette? For C5 Micheldever were able to offer them cheaper than EMTs and I understand their normal application is on BMW 7-series etc. I didn't have the nerve to spend over £800 on a set of tyres without being sure they were going to work better than the EMTs for overall ride/handling - hence my switch to Pilot Sports. Be good to know more about those Bridgestones though.

I used to have a BMW Z4 which has the RE050A RFTs from the factory. They really are dreadful - poor ride, poor grip in the dry and non-existent grip in the wet. Switching to Goodyear GSD3s was like night and day. In fact the only positive thing I can say about the RE050As is that turn-in is very positive because of the solid sidewalls. On a more objective level, Autocar ran their annual tyre test a few years ago using a Z4. They did a basic comparison with the RE050As and said that they were so bad that they didn't bother to include them in the full test.Regarding the Bridgestones, has anyone ever tried them on a Vette? Things may have moved on, but I'd be tempted to let someone else be the guinea pig...
Well by this summer, Michelin will be releasing PS2 Zero Pressure runflats in the C6 Z06 size as they are now the OEM supplier for the ZR1 and will be making that tyre for all current Corvettes.
I've not really heard anything bad about them (apart from their high price), so they will probably be the best bet for those who want the security of a runflat.
I've been quite happy to use non-runflats and carry the Continental "Conti Comfort" repair kit.
Touch wood, I've not had to use it yet!

Replaced mine with Firestone Firestarters. £658 for set of 4, landed with all duties paid from Eurovettes.
They suit me fine although they are speed rated at 666mph so you need to keep a careful eye on your speedo in case you explode.

.....I'd have thought your wing would fall off way before then.....
As a regular Z06 Passanger i must comment that the only thing stopping me from cacking it at high speed is the thought of those runflats, the car feels sweet at high speed and ive had a blowout before on a motorway(although in a different car) at 70MPH, something i would never want to experience at 180mph+
