Bowling green Factory on Discorvey channel -Megafactories

Very interesting but it was a bit repetitive. Stark contrast to the Ferrari factory an hour before, Bowling Green reminded me of wondering around TVR (without ANY robots of course) when it was open. RIP.
Must remember to plant some trees inside my store when I get to work on Monday.
Have got it on DVD or CD as Divx file if anyone wants it.....

You see Rob, you're so busy writing your own threads, you don't bother reading anyone else's! http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
..... most certainly not! Caught up with the programme now and it's highly recommended, empasising the remarkable power, speed and value of Corvette.
As per the title the show is mainly about latest Z06 and there are glimpses of other Vettes too. Once on the main production line the camaraman quite resonably had difficulty telling Z06s apart from standard C6s. Continuity was pretty reliable for body colour but you see things like stock rotors/callipers from time to time and also cars without the fixed Z06 roof rails. But that's being picky. An excellent programme and well worth looking out for on repeats.

Did a tour last week ($5 charge!). Takes 80 mins or so and your do the entire assembly line, but not paint shop or welding sections. Amazing to follow a car around from frame rails to start up and drive off. The car is high tech - no other way to say it, but the assembly is pretty people intensive. People seem to have real pride in what they do and strong collaboration between GM and UAW obvious at every step. How rare. Big focus on quality throughout - they say they are 'building someones dream' not just a car. One woman's sole job to start up every Vette for the first time and drive it onto a test rig for alignment testing. I'd like to say I'm the first person to drive every Vette!
Then crossed the road to the Museum which of course is fantastic... and got the build sheets for both my Vettes. Betty (who looks after all the archives - build sheets, window stickers etc) knew my cars from the VIN straightaway.
If you get the chance go - the whole town breathes Corvette.
