Whilst you are correct, the car has always been referred to as a C5R and not particularly by the team. I'm sorry it upsets you!
It has always been referred to as a C5R by those that are too ignorant to know the truth! By the way if you want a proper C5R there are probably 3 available for sale in Europe at the moment. For example PK in Belgium have their car for sale €300,000 and its yours. As I said Nigel, I'm sorry that you are so openly offended about the car being referred to as a C5R. As for the C5Rs for sale in Europe I'm well aware these cars are for sale but I'm not sure who would be so quick to plough so much money into a class that is seemingly dying on its feet and close to being shaken up by the ACO. I'm sure you'd agree that would be a little over the top for Britcar....

The C5R is still competitive in both the French GT Championship and the FIA GT (The PK Racing C5R had more podium finishes than any other car last season), you could also enter a C5R and win rounds of the Citation Cup which runs at the same time as the FIA GT and is for "amateur/gentlemen" drivers like yourself. One of the ex SRT C5Rs will be competing in the FIA GT Citation Cup starting at Silverstone this April in the hands of AT Racing.Dunno the costs but can't believe it is that much more than British GT, my biggest problem with the British GT is that it has always been a Porsche / Ferrari benefit and as soon as the Xero Competition car got close to winning the organisers started giving the car more weight and smaller restrictors. I watched the car extensively from 2002-2004 and know Dave Beecroft quite well.
I actually love the C5 LM GT car and was driven around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in the car in 2004 by Ricky Cole!
The sad thing is the car should have been a C5R as the original plan of Atomic Kitten Racing was to buy two C5R chassis from Pratt & Miller and race them at Le Mans but the guy supposedly with the money turned out to be a chancer who arranged the purchase and then backed out, hence the reason for the LM GT chassis. I remember when Atomic Kitten Racing turned up at the Corvette Nationals at Knebworth I think they had two cars, I assume the other one was the Embassy Car, but don't know whether Xero still have this car too.
Lots of up dates to the site this week from the ALMS at Sebring to the FIA GT testing at Monza.

If anyone else is planning to attend Britcar on the 22nd and wants to meet up let me know - the SRC clubhouse even serves some decent food which is something of a miracle at Silverstone
I'm going - really looking forward to see the Bauer Millett C5R (D'oh look what I just said)Edited by scovette on Monday 10th March 18:31

Don't know why it would be "over the top" for Britcar. Might help take the fight to the Moslers & somethings got to.mitch_ said:
Sadly a GT1 car would be so far out of the power to weight regulations for Britcar that you'd end up carrying hundreds of kilos of ballast to make it up.
Must admit that I've lost the plot with the definitions of what makes a GT1/2/3 car since the days of the Mclaren F1 etc, and I count myself as a real enthusiast, so if I don't know the difference I'm sure there are many that are completely confused. The FIA need to simplify things. That said, I thought that the Corvettes I had seen for sale were GT3 cars, eg:http://www.racecarsdirect.com/viewlisting.php?view...
Andy, that car is indeed a GT3 car built by Martini Calloway Racing in Germany. It was actually sold some time ago. The differences are fairly simple in one sense. You need to group GT1 and GT2 together, whilst GT3 and GT4 should be grouped together. GT1/2 cars are heavily modified, usually with extensive chassis alterations. GT1 cars generally are just more powerful than GT2s. GT3s are largely road based as far as the chassis is concerned bu are allowed to run modified aero, sequential gearboxes, competition clutches, etc. whilst GT4s are essentially road cars with stripped interiors, roll-cages, racing brakes and largely no aero whatsoever.
I hope that makes things a little simpler. What complicates it again is that if you go back 5 years old GT2 cars like mine are closer to GT3 spec cars now. That's the way of racing, the goalposts are always shifting.

Just come across this post, I raced the team zero C5R in the innaugaral A1 go race at brands hatch Oct 2005, with Ricky Cole, we finished 4th despite me being pushed on to the grass on the formation lap and starting dead last, mike newton also tried out the car at oulton park, the car was bought by Mitch and was upgraded to 7 litre I believe, now floundering under a dust cover in the nw, Ben Collins drove the wfr 2nd car with Neil Cunningham, Pete le bas drove the yellow one also Ryan hooker

Very cool backstory, thanks for sharing.Any photos?
Sad to hear the C5 is "floundering under a dust cover"
My site in the original post is also no more as, beyond the Silverstone Classic, it's now a rare sight to see a Corvette on track in the UK.
