Now I've had the wee beastie a few weeks I have a few lil questions!

1. When cold should I have an ABS like sound coming from the right side of the car on acceleration around 2.5k. I dont take it above 4k till the cars warm enough. I've already checked for loose bits and theres nothing.

2. Maybe I'm too used to the handling of the TVR on Ohlins. This car has a great turn in but!!!! It seems to break the rear end out too easily and its not always under hard cornering a few times now its tried to bite me in the ass pulling out of a slip road under normal acceleration. Maybe road sufaces here have something to do with it I donno! I've now been using the traction control and it still does it! This one really bugs me as its sometimes unpredictable.

3. The voice control bit. Does it ever work or can it be tuned to recognise the Scottish accent hehe

4. What diff do these use? And does anyone know the ratio?

5. Whats the highest speed one of these in standard trim? I've managed over 180mph and its still pulling and not in 6th! Has anyone pushed theirs to see what they can do?

Thanks,
Craig.

Know of a C6 Z06 in Monaco who claims to have pushed his to the 198 max on the Autobahn in Germany.........regarding the ratios I can't remember but try googling c6 z06 specifications or RTFM!
Regarding you rear end slippage I would suggest this and your ABS type sound could be related i.e. you have a problem. If you are losing traction at slow speeds then something is wrong, so I would suggest a trip to the dealer on that one. Assuming sand on the roads might cause slippage but even so the traction control should sort it out.

Craig,

Hopefully I can help a little here.....

1: I'm struggling a little to understand the noise you are referring to. There is a noise when you pull away from the clutch, but the engine is quite chattery if you don't have the damping in the passenger footwell.

2: Go to your car and put it on full lock. Slip the clutch and see if it starts shuffling. If so the diff is locking and it require the diff oil to be replaced with friction modifier. GM suggests two bottles of fricition modifier and the rest diff oil. This doesn't work. You need to use nothing but friction modifier and the job will be done.

3: Never both with it. I'm too busy concentrating on facing the right way.

4: Not sure of manufacturer but I have a funny feeling it may be 3.42....I'll check.

5: According to the factory your top whack is 198mph. I know someone who has managed 192mph.....

I've seen 206mph on my speedo, but Euro speedos overread by a huge amount, plus I have slightly smaller rear wheels which may have affected speedo gearing a tad.

However the gearbox is really more like a 5 speed + overdrive, you'll never get close to V-Max in 6th!

I agree that an ABS like noise could be a malfunctioning TC, maybe just a wheel sensor.
There have been sporadic reportings of cars misbehaving very badly with faulty Active Handling, so get it checked out!

Like all modern technologies, it's great when it's working properly and a nightmare if it goes wrong...

Thanks! Ian was re-fitting my Lingenfelter-reworked throttle body and inlet manifold and replacing my cracked windscreen.

Just had some brake ducting and the standard wheels refitted so I can use it on winter roads.

Looking forward to driving it again when I get back on Monday!

Its in for its first service and to have it looked at as it was getting even more skittish last night. They think that if its anything it could be the active handling (as already pointed out) Aparently the active handling does brake for you in some instances and that would explain the ABS type noise!

There going to let me know tonight on whats happening and if they find anything.

Craig, what was the verdict... obviously whatever needs doing will be under warranty but I hope they don't deprive you of your beast for too long.

My porker went in for new front wheel bearings on Saturday, 8 days after our hill climbing fun.
All is good now but can you begin to imagine if one of them had seized on one of the quicker bends!!!
yikes

Their English when I went back wasn't as good as it was when I dropped it off.
So needless to say it was difficult for us to understand one another. Checking the worksheet the cars had about 5 hours of work additional done and some items cleaned and reset. All free of charge including the service so I'm pleased with that.

Its driving how it did when I first got it. But whether its my imagination now it feels firmer on the road. Maybe I just got used to the 4x4 again.

I also have a twin! Living in the same area as me too! We passed each other twice last night. Lady driver.................... I'll try to get some pictures of us together. The cars I mean! biggrin

PS Miss if your reading this Im pure dead nice I am hehe

Hi Craig, my Z06 read 180 when it was actually doing 171 when EVO magazine tested it, to give you an idea of the over-read.
That said, the far side of 190 is very easy to achive given a clear enough road/track.
Like Godzilla says though, it's 5th gear that you need to hit vmax.

Enjoy!
