Head up display a worthwhile one, although if you do find your dream car they can be retrofitted even to earlier cars.

Prices vary, I think it's fair to say the range is £13k-£25k for a late Z06 (C5)

Getting the spec is pretty much a question of trawling around until you find one. Even though manuals are more popular in later cars than they were in earlier Corvettes, I think the autos still outnumber the manuals by a fair margin.

Good luck in your search!

Hi chaps.

Just looked in the classifieds but there are no cars of this exact spec:

C5 LS1
Black
Targa
6 speed
Bose sound system
Z51 handling pack

Has anyone got a ballpark figure for either an import or to be imported, or any EU cars?

Is there any goodies that are nice to have/desireable that I may have missed?

Btw, what are the brakes like as standard?
That's exactly the spec of the one I had!

Not any more mind. It has been `improved` somewhat by the new owner.

If you want a Black C5 Convertible for £15k one of the long time CCCUK owners is just about to sell his, I think it is a bargain at the price.

Details:

It is an American import brought in 2 years ago. It has a 6 speed manual gearbox, is triple black and in generally good condition. It has covered just over 70,000 miles but is still strong. It has HUD, dual zone climate control, memory pack on seats and steering column, 12 stack CD player, upgraded polished 5 spoke alloys etc. I have had fitted after market slotted and vented disc brakes all round which has improved the brakes noticably.

Hi Gazboy,

Another refugee from the mkivsupra.net here!

If you are looking for a car of that spec, I have one in the garage.

I might be selling further into the year, drop me a pm if you are interested.

Regards,

Tom

No problem.

I'd go for a corvette, obviously. The other two bore me, sorry.

Are there any good modified C5's for sale, you know the low-ish, nice wheels, slightly modified engine and tasteful looks.

If good C5's are available from £15,000, are the ones advertised at £12k-£13.5k and selling for less all crap?

A strangely severe question. It's all a matter of age, mileage and specification. If you're looking for a well specced (including HUD) lower mileage C5 it's likely to cost from around £15k. Less expensive cars will simply be basic spec', early models, higher mileage etc. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

But does not having the HUD because its a 98 car with 30,000 miles on it make it worth so much less than a 2000 car with 70k on the clock thats well spec'd but driven hard and poorly cared for?

And how much money and time needs to be invested to retrofit the HUD to an earlier car??? anyone have the experience?

You do "pay your money" as you say, but when you've got only £12k sat in the bank waiting for the right Camaro to come along that never seems to appear, then you start looking at Vettes if you only really need 2 seats... well it appears I do anyway

I paid £16,200 for this two owner car with 39,000ml car.It doesnt have the HUD as its a 98.It would have been nice, but its not life changing.I had quotes of £3-4000 to retrofit the HUDyikes.I had looked at a few before hand, and to be honest most in the lower price range were poor examples mainly Jap imports.I narrowed my choice down to two cars in the end. This one and Grahams(Cuban)But he was away out of the country at the time.So i went with this.I have been more than happy with it.And since November have clocked up 3000 mls with it.

The HUD retrofit is explained well here:

http://members.cox.net/corvette/hud.htm

Projector is surprisingly cheap. Getting the later cluster is probably the slightly harder part, although I'm sure there'd be a good source in the US.

Mum's C5 has a HUD - it is a great piece of kit, but it isn't the only good thing about a C5.
