I haven't been using the car very much lately and after two weeks standing the battery does not have sufficient power to start the car (the car was new in October 07). Can anyone recomend a trickle charger or someother device?

Hi Keith

I have a 'Challenge' trickle and quick charge unit that I used to use on the Cerbera. Never needed it for either Corvette yet, but it worked very well.

If I recall, it just came from Argos, so maybe worth checking with them, but I also know
a few people have one of these 'Accumate - Multi Stage Smart Charger-Maintainer'

Try www.accumate.com

Hope that helps. smile

Edited to correct spelling of 'Challenge' paperbag

Hi Graham,

Thank you for the advice, I will look at both the items you suggest.

Optimate III areused at Park Lane, and seem to keep the batteries on the showroom cars topped up if left on for 48 hours every 2-3 weeks.

You just need to get out in your car more often!

Hi James,

Nice to hear from you again, thank you for the tip. I haven't been out in the car as the weather has been so bad up North, it's been very hard having it sitting in the garage - roll on Spring.

Hope you are enjoying your new job.

Regards

Keith

I use an Optimate III. I ordered the optional cigarette lighter attachment and just plug it into the 12V socket in the centre console under the armrest.

It's fine to leave it plugged in all the time and it will revive a pretty dead battery.

Takes some time to do so though.

Halfords do a battery trickle charger which is £23.99 and works very well. Only issue with the side post batteries is getting a good connection on a C5.

But it's so much fun in bad weather!

Just think of slippery roads as making it seem like you've turned the TC off...

They always use these chargers in the states and seem fine on the vettes.
