Thank you racer. We're currently aiming to do the whole season of Britcar and some selected rounds of Dutch Supercar. You're more than welcome to come down to any rounds and we're currently working on having some form of hospitality available at each of the meetings. Any support always welcome!!

Ok, this is officially getting silly now! GT4? WTF?
So there are now Corvette C6s racing in GT1, GT2, GT3 AND GT4 (which I didn't know existed)?

This is silly! How is anyone supposed to know the differences between them?
Which are faster, which are more powerful, which are closer to the road car?

In a race where there are multiple cars from the same manufacturer but in different classes, it will be impossible to work out who is who.

But then again, that many cars means they need more drivers. By the time they invent GT10, they might need me! biggrin

All sounds good to me.

I'll be at the A1GP and Britcar 24hr so will see Mitch running - sure I saw the same chassis at the 2006 A1 aswell.

Also going to LMES at Silverstone and the compulsory Le Mans 24hr.

Would still like to get to an ALMS this year aswell but the funds may restrict me to Spa for LMES instead.

Aston Martin also have cars to run in all four classes. As far as knowing which is closest the road car, the higher the normal the more standard it is. The GT4's and GT3's are all built by Callaway in Europe and technically are not supported by GM. The GT1 cars are from Pratt & Miller and there are only a handful of GT2s which are being developed by their respective teams, although the one that participated in the LMS was far from competitive. A look at the suspension on the car reveals why pretty quickly!

Iain MacBeth a mate of mine best describes it here

GT4 costs a lot of money but you’re still working,
GT3 is expensive but you’ve sold your company and have some cash to spend on your mid life crisis,
GT2 is very expensive, and you own the team and employ the drivers,
GT1 is eye wateringly expensive, and you own the car company!

The Mustang FR500C won the inaugural GT4 championship. Hopefully it'll be back out again next season. It'd be great to see the Vette and Mustang competing in Europe.

Well from the manufacturer's perspective (and I know they don't control most of the teams), I would have thought it would be overkill.

I would have thought the optimum would be one GT1 "silhouette" class and a GT3-like close-to-road-car class that current/prospective owners could identify with.

With Corvette, you could now have the situation where a "C6" is faster than a "Z06" which would confuse the non-fanboys no end...

That's already the case David. The GT1 cars are not openly considered to be Z06's. It's alot easier just to think of them all as Corvettes!

Can't fault the numbers and variety - there will be plenty of traffic to give much opportunity that makes exciting racing. I think for most people, it'll be more important to identify with all the cars out on the track with road cars.

Totally can't understand why confusion over a Z06 vs a C6? Z06 is just a derivative of the C6, if someone knows enough about Corvettes to know what a Z06 is, then I doubt they'll have much trouble understanding that they're looking at race cars in differing classes.

Bring it on!! Will any of it enjoy decent media coverage?

Well, with my new job, and my new boss being a bit of a petrolhead (well, Porsche and Mazza style anyway), I may actually be able to see some of you guys at the races this year.

Couple of changes / updates for your Racing page.

Belcar the PK Carsport team have sold / are selling their C5R and have bought a Saleen so therefore won't be competing in Belcar with the vette.

The French GT championship calendar http://www.ffsa.org/calendrier.php?id=204
has Luc Alphand, PSI and SRT all racing their C6R and C5R cars in the past, obviously this doesn't mean they will race this year but there you go!

Hi Nigel

How's it going in the USA? Looking forward to seeing your photos.

Thanks for the details.
With regard to Belcar, the C6 GT4R can in principle, be entered in the FIA GT4
racing class, the DSC, the Belcar series and even the British GT Championship!
Hopefully someone will fill PK Carsport's shoes.

Talking of which, anyone know if they managed to sell either of their cars yet?

SRT have sold C5R-005 to a German team called Renauer Motorsport but as far as I know the PK C5R is still for sale as is their C6 Z06 GT3 car.
