Whilst sorting through some of my late father's effects at the weekend I found an old key with the number tag GGT 24 attached to it. There were a number of keys to old Volvos and VWs but I think this one was for my grandfather's old Rolls-Royce. I have no idea whether it still exists and don't want the hassle of calling the DVLA and dealing with phone menus etc. at the moment but I do remember seeing an online database that told you whether a car registration was still active or not. I tried the DVLA website but that was no help. Can anyone recall it ?

Hi Tristram

I checked out a few of my old cars on the dvla website listed in this thread. You need to know the reg and car details and then you should be able to find out when it was last taxed etc...

Hah! Links with the Tafia! I'm pretty sure "GGT" is a South Wales registration. Must have been some kind of pit owner to be cruising round in a Roller ..... smile

Thanks guys, it looks like they have no record of the car. There was a family opinion that the car had been sold to an American so it may well have been removed from the register.
