Hi everyone, just a short note to say hello, I have been lurking around for a Month or two and have finally joined the fold and am now the proud owner of a C5 Z06, well infact I have had the car a couple of weeks now.

I would at this point like to thank Rich (C5ragtop) for all his support and advise pre purchase and his very generous offer to view the car with me.

I am delighted with the car and very surprised how good the manual gearbox is, I thought the Cerbera T5 box was very good and felt it would be a hard act to follow, the Vette is not to shabby in that area at all, the car is great and I am really pleased my older brother John persuaded me to look at the Vette since he bought Cubans old car.

Everything works and more importantly feels like it may well do that for some time to come which was something I never felt with the Cerbera.

I have a couple of questions to ask all you C5 owners,

1, I want the car to be louder, it has the standard exhaust at present, I know that there is a lot of after market exhausts avalible but what is the best in your opinion, I noted several different type on the cars at the Ace Cafe on Saturday, I what to be heard and noticed and will all commercial exhausts ie Borla, Corsa fit the Z06

2, The boot (sorry trunk) only lifts about 1/4 inch on release which makes it very difficult to get your fingers under to open the boot, is there an adjuster that will cure this small problem.

Anyway there is a quick photo, better ones will follow.

Hello!

We need new people to post here!

It seems like everyone has sold a Cerb to get a Z06 - I thought I was the only one!

I disagree on the box though, the Cerbs changes were much nicer!

With refernece to the trunk opening, apply a little physics of transmission of air pressure by opening and closing your door having first released the trunk!

Welcome! Corvette's a great choice for anyone tiring of the "traditional" British sports car experience and who doesn't want to join the masses!

Don't forget - all corvettes are red smile

Hi barrie
nice car, i put a new wheel bearing and carried out a full allinement check on it last year,to make the trunk pop up more you can adjust the rubber stops on underside of lid down a little bit[there threaded]
wellcome aboard

Agree about shutting the door will pop the trunk better. You may also need to lubricate your catch, hinges etc. and possibly need to replace the gas strut(s) (can't actually remember if it has gas struts and it is too cold to go and look in the garage)!!

Regarding the gear change, I found mine way too long until I fitted a quick shifter kit, so it is possible this has already been done to your car.

Regarding the exhaust, I have an X pipe and B&B Tri Flow Bullet Exhaust which has no rear silencers so is a lot louder than standard. I am possibly going to change to side exit exhausts so if I am I will let you know as you can have the old system for a bargain price.

Welcome from the first UK 2003 C5 Z06 owner smile

Welcome Barrie.

I have electronic cut outs on my Z06 which are controlled from a switch in the ashtray. I've done a write up for Vette News but only Nutz will be able to confirm when it will be printed. I would describe the sound as ranging from a whisper quiet stock burble, to an all out straight through Armageddon style racket with more popping and banging than I can shake a stick at, resonance which makes me wish the world would end and a sound which can be heard in neighbouring towns.
Perfect........... and about half the cost of aftermarket stuff.
