Park Lane - A Valediction
Discussion
Shed a tear brothers and sisters for I am the bearer of sad news.
Bowling Green Kentucky needs a new Town Crier. Mild mannered James Tillyard, gushing fount of all things Corvette, is moving on. Soon, Stratstone of Park Lane will echo no more to his shrill Leicestershire babbling, as, bag in hand, he shuffles off to Paddington to board the down train to Burnham. Times have not always been easy for James. Reduced to hanging out in the annex of Aston Martin of Park Lane, as he waited for his ship to come in, bearing precious iron from the former colonies, but he bore his lot bravely, and even occasionally, sold a car or two. Corvette and Cadillac have been kind to him though, as he recovered from the trauma of being a Volvo salesman. Realising how small his following is, the team at Park Lane have decided not to collect for a leaving present, but are hopeful of being able to buy the rail ticket to Burnham. Can I ask that you put off buying the Big Issue this week, and instead, send a few coppers to Louis and Steven to help with the fare.

If that is true, that is indeed sad news for us Corvette owners, even those of us who have never bought a car off him.
James is a true enthusiast and willing to give up his own time to attend events and even answering calls on his mobile on a Sunday when certain Chairmen got locked out of their C6s...
Keep in touch James; what cars are you going to sell now? (And who's looking after my ZR-1 LOI?)

Yes, it is true (thank you Le Man- I'll remember to put a good word in about your Hyundai dealership...) I have been asked to move to Jaguar Burnham in January.
Unfortunately, there is no immediate opportunity to progress within Cadillac unless I am prepared to move to Reading, which I am not.
Louis and Stephen will still be around (and any ZR-1 LOIs have been documented centrally).
I have not been posting much lately, as it seemed to get a few backs up with a dealer being involved on a public forum, but to concur with Godzilla, the rest of the team at ParkLane are also enthusiasts first and salesmen second. You do not choose to work in Mayfair with all of the logistical issues (parking, congestion charge, london underground, traffic wardens, no service department, no valeting department...) selling cars that few poeple know about (many with the steering wheel on the 'wrong' side), unless you have a passion for the product. Any competent salesman could spend a week canvassing the showrooms in London and find a job with a mainstream brand by the seventh day.
I will be on the same email if anyone needs to get hold of me (james.tillyard@stratstone.com), and to my knowledge, a replacement has not yet been found for me, so if anyone fancies managing Park Lane drop me an email and I will forward your details on.

It won’t be the same without you at Park Lane.
I wish you the best with the new job.
