Hi
Was speaking to a friend about his Ford Focus.
He was explaing to me that if the engine gets too hot, the ECU shuts the fuel supply off on alternate pistons, to allow them to just pump air to try to reduce engine temperature.

Does the Corvette ECU do anything clever to try to control engine temperatures.

There are actually quite a bit it does.
Not shutting down fuel and spark to cylinders, but it does do things like trigger fan1 on even with ignition off if its over 140*C
It will also pull timing and dump in extra fuel to cool things down.

You can take a look at exactly what it does depending on your model year by downloading the tune from www.holdencrazy.com you can view the tunes with efilive which you can also download for free from www.efilive.com

Z06 LS7 is similar but controls things based on intake valve temp and not engine coolant temp.
