Well the new house just isn't suitable for the car now. I have moved a little more rural and have a very narrow gap between house and wall to access the garage. I should also be starting a job whereby my company vehicle disappears and I need a daily driver that still has some performance but is physically small and need an average fuel economy at least in the 30's. I am really disappointed to be selling as it took ages of saving and searching to get mine in the first place and I have only had it 13 months or so! I am thinking VX 220 turbo at the moment, bye v8 frown, but anyone have any other fast, small and efficient motor ideas?

2000 Torch Red Auto
28k Miles
European B pack
wanting £15 750 (I got her this cheap via a friend)

She is a minter, the only problems I have had over the 13 months is the dropping fuel gauge trick that a lot of cars did/do. Some fuel additive as suggested on here solved that in the last 6 months it never happened. It also seemingly ran out of fuel once with a quarter tank in. People on here suggested a bad bit of fuel, which I can only assume is true as it never happened again after that despite running the fuel down before every fill up.

I've had a few emails interested but only one that I know is genuinely looking for a Vette. I would certainly prefer it to go to a member on here and someone who will look after it. If you know anyone that is looking please point them in my direction. I certianly didn't find one in this condition/mileage and any less than £19k when I was looking.

Cheers
Ian

Sorry to hear you are leaving......I had a Lotus Exige for the summer and they are brilliant in the dry and pretty good in the wet, but like all Lotuses they leak so I sold mine before the onset of winter.

Have a friend with a VX220 Turbo and he uses it everyday and seems to love it so they can be an everyday car.

Good luck with your search and I hope you find a buyer soon.

Thanks Nigel,

Yeah that was the main reason I opted for the Vx. It seems most people view the Lotus as a track car that is good for the road, a Vx is a road car good for the track! I think the VX has leak issues too but can be solved with adjustment.

its a real pain for me. I'll never get a luxury cruise/attention grabber like the Vette but needs must!

Hi Ian
I had VX220 turbo, absolutely fantastic car. I had mine upgraded to stage 2 at Thorney motorsport in Milton Keynes. John Thorn IS the man regarding Vx220 tunning and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. My problem with the Vx was my back, getting in and out was the problem, once in the car they fit like a glove and are comfortable for hundreds of miles. The stage 2 adds up to a good few quid but is worth every penny, the car practicaly eats anything else on the road.
After i sold the Vx i bought the C5, i do miss the Vx but i love the C5. In an ideal world i would have both, but my back couldnt live with the Vx as a daily driver. You will love it!!

Cheers for that Ed,

It is looking like a VX for me as they are so much cheaper than a Lotus for what you get. Yes they will depreciate quicker and are a Vauxhall but they seem like great fun. The main downsides it seems are leaks, noises and ending up in a tree! The latter two don't bother me as I have driven a few back happy cars and don't really mind noise. Getting into a steamed up swimming pool after work would though! If I could make my old TVR S1 leak free I am sure I can manage this!

Nobody has viewed the Corvette at all. I am confident the first to view, who has some kind of idea of them/actively looking, will buy. I guess it's getting the viewer. Gonna stick it on the dreaded Bay tonight I think so I can get messed around a bit!

I've been invited to the new Lotus opening at Harrogate Horseless Carriages on Thursday, posh invitations! I'll take the Vette with me I think smile I can have a nosey at some of the latest offerings there too and maybe find a buyer that wants a V8 with more reliability than the TVRs offered!
