Has anyone looked closely at the numerous "2007" cars being currently advertised by Stratsone on this site at apparently "bargain" prices.
I may be both naive and a marketing virgin, but a significant number are obviously 06 model year cars being subtly advertised by implication to be 2007 cars.
I am fully aware that for most european cars, you may never know the build date, but since corvette build dates are given and every model year bring some minor change (steering wheel radio controls), check the steering wheels and you will find the evidence.
Why cant Stratsones advertise these as 06 model years, registered 07 or otherwise!!

This happens with Chrysler and Jeep and it did when Cadillac and Chevrolet was sold by Vauxhall, My C5 was bought new in Dec 2001 but built in 99!!! It was due its first MOT almost.

To mix some metaphors "never look a gift horse in the mouth" ..... "unless you have an axe to grind".

IMO those Stratstone cars are stunning value for money. There would be one heading for my garage apart from the minor inconvenience that there's already a C5 sitting there.

Unless I have missed something, all of our cars advertised on here are 2007 model year unless otherwise stated (eg the silver Z06).
As you know, some of these cars will have a build date of 2006, but they are definitely 2007 model year (I have just checked the chassis number).

Many modern European cars are just like the Vettes; check the eigth digit back on the chassis number and this will give you the model year.

The yellow Z06 advertised (Birmingham)is without steering wheel radio controls, and as far as I understand, this was an 07 model feature equally applicable to the Z06, as also the red targa coupe. Are these the pictures of the actual cars for sale, or "sample images"

Further examples of "caveat emptor"
Three silver cars in various Strats sites all advertised as 2007 56 models, all without steering wheel radio controls and probably late 06 model year cars!
You get what you are prepared to pay for, but the prices (some)are still both attractive and competative relative to the importers.
At the current commercial $/£ rate of 2.10, a personal import low mileage (<500) C6 targa coupe can be both bought, imported and SVA'd for less than £30k. Now THAT is a bargain, and its a car that is fully loaded including sat nav etc etc.

Someone is being lazy and not taking fresh shots of the interior of individual cars. I will give the offending Brummie a kick when I see him next Tuesday.
All of the 06 model year demonstrators were replaced with 07 model year demonstrators between January and March this year.
There is a 56 plate Silver convertible in the group that is an 06 model year. This was bought back from the customer when he moved to LA in March. It does have a full GM sports exhaust though...

Have to admit - the black convertible which manages to have a coupe interior shows some real attention to detail!!

All I have to say is if wanna buy from the states go ahead I think Stratstones car are great value & I have bought one from them but thats my view and when I have a problem they sought it out Park lane have been really good. With regards to sterring wheel controls and model years if your buying from the States what do you care what they are selling and for how much?
You got a great car and yes bought it cheaper than the UK we know. Stratstone are just trying to sell a car and yes a dirty word maybe make some profit.
On the US Vs UK price I bet you don't pay the UK price on Fuel maybe I should look at the BP forums and see if anymore is saying how cheap they can fill there car up in the states compared to the UK. I kmow when I was buying a used C5 the only ones I would look at were euro cars and not an Import from the states. I have had US cars before but if you can buy a euro car I would always get one, blah

I agree with buying a Euro car rather than a US one. My Z06's gearbox started to refuse 5th and reverse gear and Stratstone sorted it under warranty as my car was a Euro one.

A US one would have been another (MUCH more expensive) story...
