Well picked it up today and enjoyed a nice drive back.It does,nt have the raw, race feeling like the Cerbera. But you do feel that you are going to get to journeys end.

Just a few questions.
1.What are the headlight bulbs?H1? H7? or H4? I would like to know has i want to up-grade to HID xenon.I cant work out the U.S Abreviations for the bulbs.

2.On the way back the fuel gage suddenly went to zero, and the low fuel message came up,even though it had a full tank. When i got home a few flicks of the ignition switch seemed to get it working again. Is this a common problem.
3.It has the coloum lock,as described in an earlier thread, and the previous owner has said that he had a problem with it a couple of years ago.But it manage to free itself?.Should i take it to a dealers to get rectified. The previous owner did say that it was still under warranty.Has it had a ten year warranty on the car.Would it cover this?

Thanks for any help giventhumbup

Yes, the gauge problem is a known fault. Can't remember how to fix it offhand but www.corvetteforum.com is a good start to find out.

The column lock is also a known problem. I would go to Google and find a Column Lock Bypass which are relatively cheap. i think I got mine from Corvettes Of Houston or Mid America Motorworks. It could save you being stranded.

Getting the column lock by-pass IS A MUST!!!
My C5 Z06 failed its SVA because the steering locked up on test, and had to have a re-test (with pass)
Corvettes of Housten were my source of by-pass.

The steering lock was a safety related recall and is probably still covered by GM. If you speak to one of our service departments (I know that Reading and Wavendon have done several of these) there is a good chance that this can be rectified free of charge.

My Z06 had had the GM recall, and still experienced a "lock-up" at the time of SVA test.
Eliminate the risk, and fit the computer by-pass module from Texas Corvettes Housten etc, its much better than the GM mod and simple to fit, and not a lot of money

Nice Vette and welcome.

You'll need '9006' bulbs if you're converting your low beam pop-ups to HID. You'll probably find that you'll have to lower their aim a bit if you don't want to blind anyone.

The car was a direct U.S import.

That may be, but the lights may have been changed for SVA and/or MOT. US headlights dip up and down, wherease the UK ones dip to the left. I think US lights are separated for dip and main and have two bulbs. UK lights have one bulb.

Looking at the lights it has a single H4 for low beam, and a seperate H4 for the dip.

Fuel gage: just change your brand of petrol. Weird but it works.

Headlights: some people say the C5 will pass an MoT test with US headlamps and I guess no-one will have got as far as an MoT unless the car passed SVA first. On the other hand I thought headlamps needed to be E-marked and RHD to pass SVA although I've never put a car through myself.

Actually that rings a bell. Something to do with the sulphur content.

The SAVA test does pass US headlamps and it's just a question of aiming slightly down and to the left. Mustangs pass SVA with US headlamps too.

It done it again tonight.Gage suddenly droped to zero, with low fuel coming up on the display.Switched off, pulled the key out,put it back in switched ignition, and the gage is working again??? How weird. And i thought Cerbera,s done strange things.
