Today at Road Atlanta it was announced that Lou Gigliotti's LG Motorsport Team will compete in GT2 next season in the ALMS. The car will be the Riley Technologies Chevrolet Corvette GT2.
The GT2 Corvette V8 powerplant will be built by CRD, a leading GM engine builder.
The 2 car team will debut at Sebring 2008 which was announced as being on the 15th of March 2008.

The full schedule of ALMS races for 2008 is:

March 15 - Sebring
April 5 - St. Petes
April 19 - Long Beach
April 26 - Houston
May 18 - Utah
July 12 - Lime Rock
July 19 - Mid Ohio
Aug 9 - Road America
Aug 24 - Mosport
Aug 30 - Detroit
Oct 4 - Petit Le Mans
Oct 18 - Laguna Seca

In GT2 a Ford GT will compete in the endurance rounds and a 2 car team of Dodge Viper Coupes will also compete.....still no news of a GT1 challenger to Corvette Racing.

Bad news about no competition in GT1; how long before GM pull the plug on a very expensive program with no marketing benefits?

GT2 is interesting; so there will be a C6 derivative in all three classes racing somewhere in the world!

Jan Mag just got nailed into the tyre barrier after an LMP clipped him. Only about 20 laps aswell so not the greatest of starts for Corvette Racing.

I'm sure Nige will soon be on here with some pics of the incident. Are you playing "press" again this weekend? wink

I'm out in California right now running one of our tours with all customers using Corvettes from us
(photos to folow) and if anyone is thinking of seeing a race here in the States next year, our
Californa Corvette tour will include the final race at Laguna Seca in 2008. yes

I am sorting the photos at the moment and will provide a CD to Nutz the new club magazine editor so expect to see some pics and a story soon!

I have also done a bit about the Speed GT race on Friday with pis which is over on the club site if you are interested.
