Hey just a quick question, there isn't a "travel" adjustment of some kind that is fairly easy to access? MOT due soon and I started trying to get the handbrake working. I had the rear disks off and adjusted as much as I could whilst still being able to get the disks back on. It works now but only holds well on final notch. Just wondered if there was another method of adjusting like some cars before playing with it again this weekend.

If not it doesn't matter I will have to grind off the lip inside the disk so I can adjust them out further and still get the bugger back on.

Cheers
Ian

The handbrake on my C5 only holds on the last notch too. Being an automatic it doesn't get a lot of use, and I was initially worried about it passing an MoT. But it's been like that since I bought the car (March 2006), and it's passed the last couple of MoT's no problem.

I tried the reversing and applying handbrake tightening method last night - and it worked - handbrake much better now - but wouldn't ever rely on it - always live it in gear

I second the reversing technique, worked for me also!

Cheers,

Yeah I never use/rely on it either. If I put it on I have a nasty habit of setting off with it on, cos its bloody miles away from you.

I can see how the reversing method works however the shoes fall into a little canyon. I fear I will never get the disks off again if I adjust the shoes up within this rivet.
