vortech supercharger

Hi all im about to buy a vortech supercharger kit for my 97 c5 does anyone have any experiance or opinions on these kits?

If buying a Vortech, buy Andy at A&A Corvette's kit.

If buying Paxton, buy ECS's ( East Coast Supercharging ) kit

Manual or automatic?

The Vortech on my 1999 trashed the 4L60e box in the first 200 miles.

Oh dear... How much HP were you pushing. Been looking at a supercharger and was advised that box should be pretty safe upto 500 ?

It could be unrelated....Plenty of people seem to safely run circa 500rwhp with those boxes...

I've just bought "Supercharged !" by Corky Bell which is a very detailed book covering centrifugal, twin screw and Roots type superchargers and the best way to use each. Its a comprehensive and technical book that has made me look again at the Roots blowers that I'd dismissed as being too old-fashioned a design. It works through how to select the right blower for each application, how to install it and covers a lot of how to set up the ancilliary bits such as fuel injection plus the load increase on various engine parts. I don't think it covers gearboxes and transmissions though.
