2001 zo6 nasty rattle

Just drove the car back from Brands Hatch and noticed a rattling like I am pulling a string of cans down the road.

It seems to go away at certain revs and come back at others. It is ery loud and appears to be coming from the middle of the car.

I cant see any immediate problems with the exhaust.

ANyone got any ideas? I am crapping myself.

Might be your cats or a heat shield.

How does your car perform, any vibrations?

No problems at all, goes like smoke. The rattling subsides at certain RPMs when the resonance is just right.

Will put it up on a ramp this weekend and have a look. Are the exhausts/cats on these things famous for falling off?

Sounds like the cat material has broken up or come lose inside its' can.

Makes a terrible rattle. Now you just need to find out which cat is making the noise!

The Z06 has always had a famous "jingle" from the mid-pipe. No idea why but replacing it with a new X-pipe often cures it.
