Not collect-ability, or even value in Dollars/Pounds/Euros, just the best car for performance, looks and all the things one buys a Corvette for.

Performance: the new C6 Z06 is best for stock performance , both power (505hp) and handling. But depending on what you want to do, previous generations are equally good if you're happy to modify them a little bit, although note you can get 405hp stock in the C5 and C4 vehicles to start off with.

Looks are subjective. I personally like the C4 - handy, as I have one - but I think the outright sexiest is a '68 stingray.

Collectability, probably a '68 is fairly rare, as are the first generation, early C2s. I think late-model year ZR1s are fairly rare too (92-95 I think).

So, all in all - impossible to answer, and depends on what you want. But thankfully no matter which you choose, they're all Corvettes. And that name says all it needs to.

I had a 1982 'collectors edition', (opening rear window as i recall), which i loved and also a 454ci from 1969.

I want a Z06, but they're a lot of money and LHD, which i don't particularly like in the UK.

I'm kind of fond of our 1960 Vette.

For stock vehicles, the 435hp 7L stingrays are great as well as the new C6 ZO6.

I am partial to the last of the C5's
The 2003 Anniversary, and the 2004 Commemorative.

They have all the top toys, and I believe, a lot of the suspension is C6

I think they have the sexiest curves of all the 'vettes.
.

.
Sure the other 'vettes are good, however only the C5 has the curves of a beautiful female

So am I - wish I had one like that. Superb car.

To answer the original question - C5 Z06 if you have around £25k to spend. If you have double that amount then a C6 Z06 but at twice the price, would it be twice the fun??...................

I'm biased towards early C3 BB but was looking at £69K's worth of new Ron Fellows Z06 yesterday. I think it looks fabulous. Form and function; white exterior with polished wheels. The business. Ferrari's don't even get a look in!

C1 twin headlamp model and C2 every time for me in the looks department but they probably drive like a tub of lard or a cock in a sock. Since I am a documented hater of the C6 body, it would have to be the C5 Z06 every time because it looks like a supercar.

My favourite Vette, looks wise, is the 1980-1982 C3. I had one of the very last 1982 'Vettes, and although they're supposed to be unreliable, I didn't have a days problem with it. Looks that have never been matched since the first car built. Stunning.

As far as performance goes, you simply cannot beat the new C6 Z06 - I'd actually sell my grandmother to get one of those. All the new business ideas I come up with now are no longer based on buying myself more property - it's all about getting enough cash together to buy a C6 Z06 - or even better, a Corvette SS (Blue Devil).
