Still here David,
We've been very busy this year so I decided to take a break. Will be back in the office tomorrow...

As for company re structuring, I doubt that anyone at Park Lane has got a problem driving all over the country in Corvettes for demonstrations driving

Hi there

My question is as clearly Corvette UK/GM UK are downsizing their operation in the UK and as such reducing overheads can we expect to see better pricing on Corvettes in an attempt to increase sales?

It would appear you can get an EU 3yr car from German dealers for much less:-
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/201651.htm

Wheres the catch?
Will GM UK dealers service and warrant a car bought in Germany?

Any VAT registered garage can service your car. If it is in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines and providing they use recommended parts (eg oil and filters etc) your warranty is not affected.

Can't answer the question about pan-european warranty - best check with GM Europe

Answers to a few questions:

As far as I can tell the german advert states that it is exclusive of vat.

We do have one unsold Z06 currently in stock and I would entertain a serious discussion about the price of the car for a quick sale; please contact me directly if you would like a chat.

Prices of standard C6 are certainly very competitive (starting from 36999 for a manual coupe with Z51 and luxury pack). What is the point of significantly discounting the Z06, assuming that we have the margin to do so, if we sell every one that we get (one third of the European production) and consequently harm the used market for existing owners?

The UK is currently the third largest European market for Corvettes (and the largest for Z06), so we must be doing something right.

European cars will get the three year warranty as supplied by GM, but will not get free collection and delivery for servicing and warranty work (wherever you are in the country), will not be thatcham cat 1 approved for UK insurance and will not have RHD headlights.

I hope this helps

James if the car is the yellow Z06 I test drove at Derby then yes I am interested, what is your direct contact information? I was happy with the drive of this car but it had 3 problems. The first was the rear tyres were shot, secondly it seemed to have a battery problem as it would not take charge, not even after over an hours drive. Lastly the paint work was heavily swirly. I told Derby for that particular car I would pay circa 48k area. He informed me of a lower mileage better example which he believed could be done at that price, he later came back to me to say the price would have been possible but it had already sold. He then informed me that on the higher mileage example with the shot batter, rear tyres and swirled paintwork they offered it at 53k, but might take 52k. At this point I was deeply saddened and kinda gave up on the idea of a Z06 or to start searching elsewhere or just wait a little longer until new registrations come out as obviously prices will then drop a little further.

Now if this higher mileage yellow example that I drove is still available then I am interested as long as it does have new rear tyres, a working battery. The paintwork I would sort myself because I have a friend who is a professional detailor. However I would expect the car to be at a fair price and to me a fair price would be in the mid to high 40's. I can give you a quick sale, as in this month so you get the car out of your stock before new plates come out etc. etc. because I know how these things work and as such you will want to clear all older cars especially ones on 06 and older plates.

I agree your C6 pricing is fair in the UK at £36999 and it certainly a lot more car available from your German rivals such as Audi and BMW when it comes to performance, handling etc. One could still question the interior quality though, but hey performance and handling is more important to me.

Its good to hear your doing well with Z06 sales in the UK but according to GM worldwide European sales on the Corvette have been far far under what they had predicted and hoped for. So surely GM must have plans to improve this and to do that it either has to be via reduced UK/European prices, better marketing or offering extra services or all the mentioned.

I want a Z06 and I want one bad. I am happy to buy a used example and would preffere a UK/Euro car. However been a Purchasing manager for a large company has taught me to always get the best deal and I always do. Therefor I hate the thought of that I could have bought cheaper elsewhere and as such I refuse to drop my pants to a UK dealer who wants to charge me through the roof for a used car when I can import new from the US for far less and get delivery within 6-8 weeks.

Let me re-inforce I don't wish to purchase from the US, I want to buy a car from a UK dealer and support UK Corvette deals but for me to do so the deal has got to be good and fair.

You have a potential customer, I am used to American cars as my current car which is now been sold is a Saleen Mustang so you can see I am a serious potential buyer, its now just down to you to offer me a good deal on a used Z06.

Hope to hear from you soon. If you want to get in touch directly email me at - Gibbo205@hotmail.com and we shall discuss a deal. smile

- I HAVE ALREADY HAD THEM REPLACED

secondly it seemed to have a battery problem as it would not take charge, not even after over an hours drive

- I HAVE HAD THIS DONE

Lastly the paint work was heavily swirly.

- I HAVE HAD THIS CORRECTED ALSO

- THE PARTICULAR VEHICLE THAT YOU MENTION WAS AN AMERICAN IMPORT PART EXCHANGED BY LEEDS. THE PRICE DIFFERENTIAL REFLECTS THE FACT THAT THERE WAS NO MANUFACTURER WARRANTY WITH THAT CAR.
THE YELLOW CAR THAT YOU SAW WAS THE ORIGINAL PARKLANE SHOWROOM CAR AND FEATURED IN VARIOUS PRESS PHOTOGRAPHY. IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY IT WAS THE STUDIO VEHICLE FOR THE TOP GEAR Z06 FEATURE.
WE HAVE THIS CAR, PLUS A REGISTERED RON FELLOWS CAR, AS Z06 DEMONSTRATORS. WE ALSO HAVE ONE NEW Z06 IN STOCK (BLACK), WITH A LE MANS BLUE AND ATOMIC ORANGE CAR ARRIVING SHORTLY.

I'LL EMAIL YOU TOMORROW.

Hi James

Well if you have sorted all the issues with the car I drove then if your willing to do me a good price for a quick cash sale then I am definetely interested. Just don't let any wash boys near it again with a spong, it may sound daft but there is a correct method for washing cars and it does not involve sponges and a chamois. Am into detailing cars and as such I am rather anal about them been washed properly and hence preventing the horrible swirling you see most cars with. So get back to me with what deal/price you can offer on this car and also the black and new ones you have arriving so then I can make a decision and hopefully give you a sale.

Interjection from Leeds - The voice beyond the grave!!!

Far be it from me to argue with Mr Park Lane, "Corvette Guru to the rich and famous", but, the car in question was sourced from the West Midlands. The only American import we ever had at Leeds was a perfect 650 mile example.
