How did some Vettes get so badly damaged - wall strikes?

The red ZR1 had front r/side damage after contact with a C3 (which didn't appear to suffer damage. The ZR1 was being driven very quick and really smooth, the C3 appeared to drift on to his line and spun, the ZR1 had nowhere to go and contact was made.

The yellow Geiger car had a fire problem.

The 2 C6's obtained damage the same time the race C3 ended up in that state. Didn't see what happened. It was the first lap of a rolling start before the first bend. Looking at the marks on the wall the blue car had touched it in a couple of places. We did see the cars enter the start/finish straight on the pace lap and from there it did look like the start was a mess.

Its a shame it happened and was the first major accident I have seen since I have been going.

Thought of you Nigel...running far to lean stops in pit lane walks away from car and woof.

Only funny part was the guy getting in the fire truck and finding the battery was flat, by which time about 20 extinguishers had saved the day.
