Just had a thought..........
Discussion
Was talking to a friend last night whos moved to America for the forseeable future which got me thinking.
Can I get him to buy a ZO6 , leave it in his garage for a while and then import over here ??
How long will he have to keep it for and what charges am I likely to incur when I import ??
Could he/me do this or is there something glariously obvious I am missing ??
(basically trying towork out if I could ever get my hands on a ZO6 !!)

Think he would have to live and own the car for 6 months in the States then move back to the UK with the car in order for him not have to pay the dreaded 10% duty and VAT. I think he would also have to provide bills for the car to show it had actually been used in those 6 months rather than stored.

Nice try,
You have to prove you arte resident over there.
You will need to produce 3 utility bills, with your name and US address.
Don't worry, I also looked at that route. but there again, you might pull it off.
Yeah, but he would buy it in his name, keep it there for a while, put a few miles on it and then give it to me as a birthday present. ??You have to prove you arte resident over there.

The last time I imported cars under the old (very old) regs, you had to:
a, own the vehicle for 2 yrs,
b, keep the vehicle for a further 2 yrs after importation before you could sell, and as the C+E chap said to me "we check all the ads"
You can imagine the "creative" paperwork this required (but I had some Lebaneese friends!)
