Fuel Consumption.

That's pretty impressive.
When moving house a few years ago, I followed my Dad driving the removal van (so I was stuck behind him) at a constant 60mph or so for about 200 miles.
On that, the (American) indicator showed 36mpg, which I work out to be around 40mpg UK or so. Which really isn't bad at all for a big 5.7l lump...
However, my actual average driving like I stole it is around 11.3 according to the guage, so about 13 UK ;-). But since it spends it time at full-throttle about all the time, with various treats like going under any and every railway, tunnel or the like at 50mph in first... that's not bad.

I don't think the Euro cars are re-calib'd for the UK gallon.
Although I don't own a C5 or C6, my Cadillac (2000) uses the same digital display, so I presume the same logic. And tank-to-tank testing of it confirms it thinks in US gallons.
The 'vette probably thinks the same, but what it reports as average mpg and actually what it is are usually way different...

No they aren't recalibrated. When I check computer against actual, on a refill, it seems pretty accurate when you do the conversion maths.
I had problems with fuel when I first got mine. Didn't get the average above 15. It slowly got better with time. I had the same average reading on a long haul trip as well. I did take it pretty "Sunday" like. Whats really funny is it returns better fuel figures than my shed on motorway trips. Roughly 30 mpg on non easy motorway agains 28 mpg for my 1.6 Astra estate!
Long trips and "plays" my average reading seems to be around 21 US. It craps on my TVR on the performance score and returns better economy. Aren't they great

The C6R #63 of Corvette Racing won the "Greenest car" at Le Mans this weekend for the best fuel economy!
Mental! There was a time, long long ago, when some of the well known awards at Le Mans were for, I think, Index of Performance, and fuel economy was one of the main things. Think Colin Chapman used to chase after those awards.

Actually, it's even better than you think, as you're all doing your sums wrong!
1 US Gallon = 0.832673844 Imperial Gallons,
therefore 31.5 MP(US)G = 37.8 MP(IMP)G!
To do the conversion in my head, I just multiply the US readout by 1.2 - approximate, but close enough!

Well, Maths was never my strong point !
But now I feel better.
