ok, although I have had the Z06 on a track before it was only a couple of laps out in dubai so as I am doing a warm up airfield day here in the sunny (hopefully) Isle of Man on Sunday I thought I'd ask if there are any things I need to watch out for with the car.

This is really a car specific question as I have been on a few trackdays before.

Any help appreciated!

Yeah, plenty on tuning but not to much on driving characteristics that I could see.

I guess I'll find out things like "how many laps do your brakes last" etc on Sunday....

Haven't tried a Z06 on a track before but I found the brakes adequate for a standard C5. The pedal may soften a little after a couple of laps but the stopping power remains there. Do make sure you use the in lap for cruising round to cool them though and leave them to cool for half an hour before driving home at the end of the day. I warped my discs after neglecting to do that. I found tyre pressures of 32psi to be ideal, more than that causes problems when they get hotter through the sessions.

On the hot brake discs theme; unless you have separate drum brakes for the handbrake don't use it when you first stop. You risk baking pad material onto the disc surface.

Cheers guys, it went ok but I got serious brake fade after a few laps, might need to upgrade the pads.
Otherwise its nice to give the caterfield's a few surprises!

Glad you enjoyed it I recommend you upgrade the brake fluid too.

Yes fluid and pads are a must for it, if you are using it on track days a lot. Also, near the end of the session, do 1 or 2 laps of cool down, drive round at a fair pace but do not touch the brakes for the whole lap and then when you come into the pits, everything will have cooled down a lot more then if you just came straight in, especially the brakes!

How did you like it on track? I really enjoyed it when I drove a clients car a few weeks back, awesome bit of kit!
